    All and all ok

This is my 9th resort in cancun so ill try to rate as honest as possible. I’m l literally here right now sitting in the sports bar and been here 5 days with a few to go. The property is spotless and very nice. The staff is well trained and does a great job. The food is average at best and believe me I’m not a picky eater. My wife and kid liked the buffet. Myself i basically cereal and fruit for breakfast and salad for lunch because i couldn’t hardly eat the rest. Im also used to being able to go to any restaurant in the resort for lunch but here only buffet and Italian restaurant is open. The pools are clean and the temp seems to be regulated so they were always comfortable. Restrooms are no where near the pool so you have to hike to the bathroom each time. I will never understand why resorts build pools and serve drinks all day without making restrooms as close as possible. Make sure to bring a yeti so you can get a big drink and stay cool the entire time. They do nightly shows and we went to a few and have entertainment at the pool daily as well. They do big parties next door a few days a week but we did not go because we had our 13 year old son. Also we could hear and see it from the beach and it’s not my thing, basically bad techno music thumping at full volume. The sports bar is open 24/7 and has finger food if you’re drunk enough to eat it lol. A few pool tables but it cost $3/game usd to play which is kinda bull for an all inclusive. All in all of all the resorts i been to here i would put it in the top 5. That being said, i would only come back if it was in sale. I guess for me it’s the food that was the breaking point. Usually i don’t want to leave but on this trip i cant wait to get home and eat any where!!!! Also i admit im getting more picky the more resorts i go to and see how it can be. If this is your first time and you get this place on a deal, pull the trigger. You wont be as picky as me lol. Also the service in Mexico compared to anywhere else is no competition. Seriously you are treated like a king.

    Riu palace Peninsula 06/2024

Amazing Resort ,I traveled a few times to Cancun and this is the best hotel so far.I stay in on the villas adult only . Rooms spacious, super clean great housekeeping service. Great restaurants, with the villa’s reservation u get a different bracelet color ,with that bracelet u have a extra restaurant ,also can make use of others Riu properties from 10:00 am to 5 pm,I have a private adult only infinity pool in front of your room ,jacuzzi on the balcony and inside your room. About restaurants great service amazing food, buffet a little bit crowded, love the steak house ,lobster on the menu,at the Italian restaurant ossobuco is the star with lamb shops. Sport bar amazing 24 hours ,good breakfast Is a great place for kids also ,a lots of activities like foam pool party, daily early night shows,Xbox competition on the main teather very important the beach is like a pool good for all ages no big waves very call . My only complaint is about Tobago bar by the beach after 8:00 pm they aloud people and families from next door resort Hotel Faranda Maya caribe , to access the hotel ,they have a green color bracelet. Also security guards let them pass to consume for free for what other people pay for it’s not right.

Fantastic hotel and amazing staff. Could do with a night time bar with some music though!

Fantastic experience at this hotel. Me and my partner, (now fiancée, we got engaged on this trip!!) had the best two weeks. The views from the rooms are fantastic, as shown in the photos! The drinks in the fridge are replenished each day and housekeeping staff work really hard and have such high standards. The only slight downfall was there were not many channels on the tv but you don’t come on holiday to watch tv.. it was just something for the background whilst we got ready to go out in the evening. The staff all around the hotel are so so lovely and cannot do enough to help you! Such polite and helpful staff. We never had issues getting a sun bed, and there were always plenty of umbrellas available (for people like me who sadly burn easily). The swim up bar was a firm favourite for us, I wish we were still there with a cocktail in hand! Staff are consistently cleaning the pools. The only slight negative was that the same music is played around the swim up bar on repeat which can get a little tedious, must drive the staff crazy!! The riu parties are so much fun and you literally just walk next door for them. Just again the music does tend to repeat itself at the events which drives you a bit mad! The food was fantastic. There are lots of options in the buffet restaurant, and the themed restaurants are so lovely. We tried three of them, admittedly you have to get there by around 6.30 to be seated but this was already expected. The steak restaurant is lovely but is not air-conned so we could only tolerate going there once. The only thing we wished this hotel had was a bar with music. If you are a young couple like us, after watching the entertainment show, it would be handy to have a small area where music plays and you can have drinks. We found ourselves bored in the evenings and did often get a taxi to the centre near Coco Bongo. Don’t do this! Get the one dollar bus, we only found out afterwards and spent 30 dollars each way for a 5/10 minute car ride. There is a sports bar but no music plays in there. Would definitely recommend this hotel but if you want somewhere to have a drink at night time, you may be better off in the Riu Cancun which I believe has a club at the hotel. Overall we had a wonderful stay on our first visit in Cancun and even better that we got engaged!! Many thanks to all of the staff- they all deserve every tip they receive!
