Smoking
Love the Riu chains, we travel 4 to 5 times a year to them. We would have given 5 stars but lately they don't seem to be enforcing the non smoking rules. We love to sit out on deck enjoy the view and a coffee but are breathing in the neighbors smoke. Also smoking on the pool decks. I sure hope the clamp down on this and make them smoke in the desanated areas.

Great Resort with Friendly Staff
My wife and I spent four nights at this resort. We had spent a week previously, some eight years ago. The resort was great then and nothing has changed since. The common areas, rooms and entire resort is modern and clean. The staff works effortlessly to maintain this resort in a fashion that reflects the overall standards of a RIU Palace. The entire staff is helpful and friendly. Mara at the lobby bar is a wonderful person and the management should be very proud of her. Working six days a week and raising a family is never easy. Mara always displays a positive attitude and is a pure pleasure to be around. Diego at the lobby bar is another example of a hardworking young man who always has a smile on his face. Bryan at the breakfast buffet also is a polite and friendly young man. That is just a few of the many employees that made our trip remarkable. From the rooms to the public restrooms, everything is modern and clean. The alcohol is top shelf, and the food is very good. Never had to wait at a specialty restaurant, since we ate between 6:00pm and 6:30pm. Dress shorts, a collared shirt and shoes is acceptable attire. for all the restaurants. Overall, I would highly recommend this resort. We will definitely return in the near future.

Treated disgracefully
Arrived on 28th November. First night we went to bed and when we woke up in the morning we discovered the toilet had been leaking all night and had completely flooded our room. Our room was covered in dirty toilet water and human excrement. Reported it straight away cleaners came and cleaned up and kindly took some of our affected clothes away to launder that had been affected ( for which we tipped them ) maintenance man came and fixed the faulty toilet. However whilst we were waiting for both cleaners and maintenance man to arrive we had no choice but to use hotel towels to try and stop the water from spreading any further. We then carried on and enjoyed our holiday. However on check out day 8th December we went down for breakfast and upon going back up to our room to pack we discovered our key card wasn’t working. Went down to reception to be told that they had locked us out of our room until we paid for the towels that we had “ damaged “ And that they would only unblock our room once we had paid for the towels. We had no choice but to tell them we would pay for them but our payment methods were in the room. Eventually the agreed to let us back in the room whereby we packed our belongings and went back down to reception to check out. Upon checking out I was told we had to pay for the towels we damaged I explained what had happened to the girl behind the desk and told her that I was more prepared to pay for them as this was a maintenance issue and in no way our fault and that we had human excrement floating about our room ! She again told me I needed to pay. She also told me I should have reported the incident straight away to which I told her I did and that they sent the cleaners and maintenance up ! Again I refused to pay so she spoke to her supervisor) standing next door to her who made no attempt to speak to me about it ) she then told me again I had to pay. Again I told her I wont be paying. She spoke to her supervisor again and then told me the best she could do would to be to give me 30% off. I again told her that I was not paying. In the end I walked away from reception without paying. This is the fourth Riu hotel I have been to in a two year period.i am a Riu gold class member. All the other three hotels were first class. We had two separate rooms at this hotel and spent over £9000 on our holiday there. The way we were treated here was disgraceful and disgusting and I would never return to this hotel nor recommend it.

Enjoyable holiday
I returned yesterday from a weeks stay with my friend (we are in our early 40’s and love to party) We had a great time! Whilst everything is fresh in my mind I’ll list the positives and negatives Positives: *Staff - so friendly and helpful. From the cleaners to management. * food - plenty of choices. I had two dinners one night from two different restaurants! Steak restaurant and Italian were our favourite. Krystal was nice with the best service. Buffet breakfast had lots of selection. Fresh fruit, different types of eggs, meats, cheeses, bakery items etc. there is a cafe in the lobby which has lovely baked goods and sandwiches up until closing time 11pm. Convenient for a late night snack * Location- not too close to the strip not too far away. 6 mins in an uber which cost £4.00. Ubers are plentiful and come with a few mins! The beach is stunning! Think most rooms had a view of it. There are a couple of convenient stores a walking distance away. It felt safe to walk on the street late at night * Layout- the size was huge but could easily get around. Liked the pool area. Could always get loungers. *Atmosphere- mixture of guests. Hub of activity. From weddings to reunions. General good vibe throughout the day. Decent night time entertainment. Not the best but not the worst. Was happy to sit by the bar and listen to music in the evenings. Loved the silent disco and variety marathon show. *Bar - had positives and negatives-staff were so hard working never had to wait long for service. I do have to say that some of the spirits tasted watered down. The soft drinks at some bars were flat. Good cocktail choices. The barstaff also made drinks not on the menu 🤩 Negatives *RIU party MUSIC- it was bad. So bad that we entered the Riu party at the RIU Caribe then swiftly walked out. Played mostly techno. Would have been great to hear some other genre of music. The music which played by the pool during the day was much better! *Rooms- were very tired looking. Could see the previous paint colour coming through the wall. Wasn’t the most cleanest room but when the cleaner was informed they did a deeper clean. When we arrived there were long hairs on the floor and on the surfaces. The shower filled up quickly l, slow draining, resulting in being ankle deep in water everytime I took a shower. We told reception about this on day one and no one came and fixed it. Asked for blankets. Had to collect them myself from reception and they stated it was the last two blankets. They should have been in the room. I have been informed that the hotel will be doing a refurb soon which I think it deserves and I’d love to come back once that’s done. Thank you to all the staff at Riu Palace peninsula for a great holiday.

Disappointing all inclusive experience
I regret booking this so-called 'all-inclusive' resort. The complete lack of basic hospitality made this stay memorable for all the wrong reasons. The issues started with the room - I booked the trip for 3 people (2 adults and one 17 years old) 2 double bed rooms. When I got the room there were two single beds. Additionally I was shocked with the rude responses from the staff for basic requests such as : 1) hot water - I was told they "need to check for the availability" (seriously?). When a hotel needs to "check availability" for HOT WATER, you know something is seriously wrong with their service standards. 2) I requested lime/lemon - again, treated like I was asking for some rare commodity for an all inclusive. 3) The Food quality was barely passable. 4) Entertainment shows were very loud and not entertaining at all for families. 4) Asked to delay the checkout for 30 mins, and I was asked to pay for that. There's a difference between not being able to fulfill a request and making guests feel like they're inconveniencing you with basic needs. The hotel staff was super rude, they never greet or smile at you. The fundamental concept of hospitality seems foreign to this establishment. I would highly recommend you to save your money and book elsewhere. This place needs to understand that hospitality industry means actually being hospitable. Would I return? Absolutely not. Would I recommend? Never.
