Absolutely fantastic holiday it was our 2nd time staying and couldn't fault it again. All staff very helpful and friendly. Food great only issue we had was food wasnt very hot but plenty of choice. Loads of sunlounges no issue u don't need to reserve them or go early. Definitely go again .

Good hotel but below expectations for a Palace level

We are frequent guests of Riu hotels, so we expected more from a Palace category. Check-in was confusing and poorly explained by the receptionist, although we noticed another staff member giving clear information — so the issue seemed individual, not general. We also had to carry our own luggage, unlike in other Riu hotels. The room followed the usual standard but had only one bottle of water for two people (in a country without drinkable tap water), which was not ideal. There was a noticeable musty smell, and the poor sound insulation made the rain noise very loud. Wi-Fi around the pool was weak, causing bingo games to be canceled. Restaurant information on the app was inaccurate, and there were no reservations — only first come, first served. Entertainment communication was inconsistent too. We found two cockroaches in the room, but overall, the hotel was clean and well-maintained. Common areas were tidy, though some sun loungers and canopies were quite worn and should be replaced. On a rainy day, there was no good lunch plan: the only open restaurant was by the pool, guests got wet, and no extra food was provided in covered areas. No umbrellas were available. On the positive side, staff organized games in the lobby, and we saw managers helping guests, which was nice. We also experienced low water pressure and a toilet clog, but maintenance responded quickly. Coffee quality was disappointing. Overall, it’s a good hotel, but it did not meet the higher expectations of a Palace. The Italian restaurant was poor, as in other Riu hotels. The main extra service was pool and beach staff taking drink orders.

    Fantastic holiday

This is an honest review, booked 10 days here at Riu palace Punta Cana with TUI for a second visit in the last few years. ( who were excellent, we would not use anyone else for long haul). Stunning building from the outside. Reception an incredible area. Check in fast, easy , friendly and informative staff and offered a cold drink.. Paid in the package to upgrade our room to superior, overlooking the main gardens, well worth it. Good balcony with a nice view, huge bed, large shower, lovely towels and toiletries, extra space etc, lots of wardrobe and drawer space and plenty of coat hangers. Use the RIU app for many things such as restaurant and entertainment info and optics/fridge top up.The room cleaner is incredible and leaves fresh small scattered flowers, (we left a 1 dollar tip each morning when we went out). The mini bar and optics are excellent. Good air con and ceiling fan. Beach is stunning, 100m from the hotel reception straight down the main walkway through lush immaculate gardens. The outside cleaners and gardeners work so hard. Plenty of beach sunloungers. Beach bar at the beach edge with plenty of shaded seating. Waiter service on the beach. (Bring a tall thermos mug, and they take it for you and fill it). Beach snack bar at side of beach bar(pepes). Toilets in reception, near restaurants and steak bar (near the beach), all constantly being cleaned. The staff in all the hotel areas are super friendly and helpful. 3 pools, plenty of Sun loungers and shaded adjustable canopies, and waiter drinks service. Pool showers and also foot shower on the path at the beach edge. Swim up pool fab and quiet up until lunchtime where we have first 2 drinks from 10am. Pool towels clean and good. We preferred the quieter volleyball pool but obviously went down to the fabulous sea and then back to the loungers by the pool. The self service buffet restaurant table areas are laid out immaculately with lots of staff. At breakfast and dinner sittings, the choice is like nothing I have ever experienced, absolutely incredible. Yes it's buffet, but the choice and quality is superb and you can make full meals rather than just bits of everything. There is a full waiter drinks service as well. (Please watch you tube, it's exactly what you see but even better in person). Walk round to all the stations before you choose your food). We tried the speciality restaurants but found the buffet better. We left a 1 dollar tip after every meal. The staff are so hard working at looking after you. The steakhouse near the beach turns into another buffet restaurant at lunch, and again the quality and choice is superb, with a full waiter drinks service. There is a huge outside sitting area near the stage for the evening entertainment, with full waiter drinks service ( use the Riu app for nightly information). Some nights were ok and better than other's, ( Bring a book/tablet/playing cards). The coffee bar (with cakes) and Daqauri bar inside in the huge reception area are very good with lots of seating and tables. The 24hr sports /snack bar near the far end of reception is good if you arrive late or early for flights and excursions. Hotel WI-FI good. No idea about the gym, WHY, because we are on holiday. Tui rep in the hotel is very friendly and informative. We have done saone island vip trip, with catamaran and speedboat absolutely mindblowing,( coach transport, boat, private beach, lunch, drinks, incredible), do not do the cheaper one, ( it's overcrowded and nowhere as good). Go on you tube for up to date videos off all aspects of the hotel. Its Great value for money and we will be returning
