  Overall, very nice. Nice location. Nice hotel too. On the downside, the air conditioning in the room was too loud. The soap and cream dispenser by the sink kept falling off the wall, which was very annoying. Some of the waiters in the outdoor dining area were too pushy, especially one person who usually works at the back of the outdoor dining area. During breakfast, she often talked to other waiters instead of serving guests. During dinner, she would stand behind the table for a long time. It was very uncomfortable. The beach by the hotel is nice, but in the evening and at night there are drug dealers hanging around who constantly approach people and offer something. It is hard to feel safe and to go for a walk on the beach at night, even being so close to the hotel. This happens just a few meters from the bar by the pool. There should not be drug dealers and pimps hanging around in the hotel area, and you should do something about it. There is supposedly a security guard, but there is only one, and he usually stands somewhere hidden, constantly looking at his phone. One person cannot protect the entire beach. This strongly discourages evening walks and does not make me feel safe. In the water park, at the high-speed (turbine) slide, the pool where you land is 2 meters deep. I almost drowned there—if it hadn’t been for the lifeguard, I would not have been able to get out on my own. Two meters is definitely too deep. Later that same day, I also heard another person saying they almost drowned as well, so this happens to more people. This is a very dangerous place.

  Not on par with usual Riu palace standards

  Disappointed. Riu palace punta cana is not up to typical Riu Palaces i have stayed at before. Our first room 1122 had an awful smell. We couldn't breath whilst sleeping despite air con on the lowest setting. We moved to 1137 in the middle.of the night. We still had room issues, including 9 cockraches (7 small ones), air-conditioning which wouldn't go lower than 21 degrees and dirty towels. Broken, damaged sunbeds left on the beach or by the pool (should be removed). I found the Cocktails were too sweet and Food is not typical palace standard. Bathrobes and slippers should be provided as standard for a 5 star hotel. GYM IS OF A VERY POOR STANDARD. Small. Broken machines and very bad air conditioning. You cannot breath in the gym! Only positives are: showers are very hot. Staff are fantastic (Tatiana, Mike, Bryon, to name a few looked after us). Coffee shop is lovely. Grounds well maintained (shame bedrooms are not as well maintained). We enjoyed the A la carte restaurants, neon party, water park and some of the shows. We had 4 rooms in total. Only one, 3147, was issue free. I do not recommend this hotel. I will try one more Riu palace and if not up to the same standard as Riu palace in Cape Vede or Mauritius, I will try another chain.

  A gorgeous beach with sand, palm trees, and a light ocean breeze, just 150 meters from the room. The food was excellent (subjectively, I have the impression it's devoid of any European additions). The hotel was beautifully maintained to its standard. As is typical in the tropics, the room sometimes requires consideration for "small" guests, but remember - this is a place where the temperature is above 24 degrees Celsius and you live in harmony with nature.

  Great location, great food, good service. It would be even better if seaweed would be removed from the beach every morning.

  Been here multiple times. The staff is amazing. You can’t beat the weather! Food was adequate variety
