Great Vacation at Riu Palace Riviera Maya
This was our 2nd stay and we love it here! It’s a gorgeous resort. Everything you need to relax is here. If you want to party and dance that’s here too! Great pool area -beautiful beach too. We only left the resort to do a little shopping. Every worker/crew member at the Riu we dealt with was wonderful. We prefer the buffet over the ala carte restaurants as there is always something delicious to pick from. We ate at the Steakhouse and Mexican also, both were fine we just would rather choose buffet. All areas of the hotel were always clean and taken care of. I can’t say enough good things about the place. Can’t wait to book a return trip!

RIU riviera maya was great.
The frozen drinks were not good but well drinks and martini were good.the food in the restaurants was good. But the buffet was just soso. The grill by the pool was excellent. The daytime entertainment was fun.

Great time
This resort was absolutely awesome. It is not often a resort looks as amazing in person as it is shown on the internet, but this one dies. We will definitely go again!

Great beach and modernized resort
The location of this hotel is one hour from the airport however the Cancun Airport delayed us 3 hours (2 hours for bags and 1 hour for prebooked shuttle-don’t go through MTS). The resort is very clean, modern and secure. The beach, entertainment team and the evening entertainment were top notch. One of the best we have had at a resort. The karaoke, silent disco and rock show were so good. We did not like the beds pushed together to make a huge king, I would have liked a normal king. The food was ok, but mostly because the Mexican food looked terrible and not fresh. I do not appreciate guacamole that is from a bag and not fresh. Didn’t seem many ate Mexican food there. The rest of the food was ok. My boyfriend is celiac and needs GF and the staff seemed aware, food was well marked and he could get fresh pasta made at the buffet and at the Italian restaurant when he asked, that was very nice. MTS hounded us during our stay trying to get me to book excursions and basically lying I had to go there to sign for my return trip to the airport. Overall though, I would go there again.

RIU Palace Riveria Maya
We booked a Jr. Suite w/Ocean view, high floor. Our room was on the 3rd Floor. The building DID NOT have an elevator. In fact only 2 elevators in the whole complex! Those were where you checked in, main bldg. not close to the pools, beach or action. Also, no golf carts to move people on the property. You had to rent a scooter or wheel chair. It was 942 steps from our room to breakfast. When I asked for a room change because my wife had surgery they would only do it if I signed a waiver agreeing to forfeit the extra cost of the room because they would not return any money! What? No bathrooms (water closet) at this facility either. One water closet in the area of the pools/beach and outside restaurants. One W/C in the front of the property 1st level by main stage and one on the 2nd level by check in area. Oh yes, one in your room. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and nice, grounds well well kept and scenic, food was mediocre, if you had a child over 2 they would be bored to tears, nothing really for them to do unless they really like the beach. If you had never been to an all inclusive and didn’t have anything to compare the RIU to you probably would rate it high. However, no elevators and the absence of water closets is a real killer. When you are in your 20’s this might not be a factor but when you get older reasons to pass and look for a new venue.
