Great Riu hotel
Stayed at this lovely hotel for my 60th birthday at the beginning of May. Great chilled out vibes here. Delicious food (particularly the jerk chicken served in the beach at lunchtimes), and plenty to choose from. The hotel is spotlessly clean and our room was cleaned daily, and towels refreshed. Thanks to the staff for this. Clean pool area with plenty of room for everyone. Enjoyed the pool and beach service from the waiters, who always served us with a smile. The beach is lovely with plenty of sunloungers and shaded areas for everyone. The water is warm and shallow and we spent a lot of time in the sea. The evening entertainment was ok, and was just right for what we wanted from the holiday. Very pleasant and warm staff at this hotel where nothing was too much for them to help you enjoy your holiday and stay at this Riu hotel. They’re a credit to the chain. Highly recommended.

Fantastic hotel
Amazing holiday… Staff were brilliant, wide range of food and different restaurants to dine in, lovely and clean.. Beaches were spotless and the usual sellers on the beach was a given but they were not permitted beyond the first row of sunbeds so if you don’t want the hassle don’t use the first row… Went on a boat trip to see the salt water alligators ( which was fantastic and the guides really knowledgeable) and to the a waterfall but there was a thunder storm so only stayed there for a quick drink.. Family went snorkelling which they throughly enjoyed and then onto Rick’s bar which they liked but said it was very expensive for the food and drink…

Disappointing - Will not pick a RIU again
I’m currently staying at the Riu Palace Tropical Bay in Jamaica, and unfortunately, the experience is far from the luxury I had anticipated. First, the food is shockingly poor for a supposedly top-tier resort. It’s repetitive, bland, and lacks variety. The food is cold , the rice is dry , it nearly took out my tooth. It is the same food in the Buffett and restaurant’s every single day. After a couple of days, every meal felt the same, with very few options to make dining enjoyable. For a hotel that markets itself as a 5-star establishment, the culinary experience was severely lacking, and it quickly became one of the most disappointing aspects of the trip. Entertainment is another letdown. It’s difficult to find something enjoyable in the evenings. Worse yet, all the bars shut down at midnight, leaving guests with no place to relax or unwind. There are no dedicated chill-out areas, meaning that after midnight, the resort feels completely dead with nothing to do. For a vacation spot, this lack of late-night entertainment or even a quiet place to hang out is incredibly frustrating. The only redeeming feature of the Riu Palace Tropical Bay is its breathtaking beach. It’s truly one of the most beautiful stretches of sand I’ve seen, and it’s the only reason I’d consider coming back to this part of Jamaica. However, a beautiful beach is not enough to make up for subpar food, poor entertainment, and limited facilities. We have stayed at top hotels all over the world and we will never pick a RIU again. Overall I’m feeling very disappointed with my stay. If you're looking for a resort with great food, engaging entertainment, and vibrant nightlife, this isn't it. Unfortunately, the stunning beach was the only highlight of an otherwise lackluster stay.

September break.
Nice hotel, 5 star in Jamaica, probably a 4 star in the UK. Service Service was good/great. The service team were attentive and helpful, some looked occasionally disinterested in the Restaurant and bar areas. Bevan and Marley should have special mentions. Housekeeping team were excellent and the Entertainment team were good, they left you alone if you wanted. Entertainment The entertainment itself had a good variety day and night. The uber loud speaker probably wasn't necessary and the foam party was fine for some, not for others. Beach and Pools The beach was lovely, keep well and ideallic. Little gripe was the large amount of local sellers roaming up and down the waterfront and would approach you or shout at you for attention. Pools were nice and warm and clean. Room Had everything you need from an iron and ironing board to loads of towels and toiletries. The mini bar was stocked daily with water, coke, tonic etc and the spirit optics were never allowed to get empty! Food The main buffet was excellent. No quantity or quality issues, loads of variety from all cultures around the world. A choice of additional a'la carte restaurants were great. Again, the quality and quantity were excellent. Drink What more can you say?! Loads of choice from local spirits to branded ones. Only Red Stripe beer, but when in Jamaica! Cocktails and Mocktail choices were vast - the Pina Colada is well worth a taste, particularly with Rum! Summary The hotel is definitely worth a stay, if you want calm and peaceful music, you may need to think again, however the team, the food, drink, housekeeping were all brilliant. Well done Rui.

5 Star Beach, but 3 Star resort
This resort has a 5 Star beach, but is 3 Star at best. Rooms - we stayed Ocean Front on the third floor. Rooms are clean and big enough, but are in desperate need of maintenance. Outlets and USB plugs do not work. Shower is poorly caulked. Towel hooks dangling from the wall. Refrigerator door casing falling off. Also you cannot adjust the temperature in your room. Temp was usually 26 Celsius (78 F). Way too warm although the ceiling fan helped a little. We tipped housekeeping most days, but did not seem to matter. Some days no wash clothes, some days only 2 towels, some days no hand towels. Tipping didn’t seem to matter. We were happy rooms were cleaned by early afternoon each day. Food- breakfast buffet is the best. Lunch and dinner buffets get old quickly. Most of the same entrees everyday. The Little desserts are very good. We went to the Steak house and the food was great, however it was very warm and humid so not enjoyable to eat dinner while sweating. Also went to Krystal. Food was not great and although this restaurant is air conditioned, it was still very very warm inside. Just not a great experience. Drinks are plentiful, but extremely weak with just a dash of alcohol. We ended up bringing the rum from our room to the beach and pool during the day to properly spike our drinks. Pools are great especially the relaxation pool. Liked that pools are so close to the beach so can easily go back and forth. Peddlers on the beach are very annoying- so sit 2nd or 3rd row if you don’t want to be bothered. Entertaining- we watched the early entertainment 2-3 nights. Reggae bands were good. Comedy skits were painful. We were at this same resort in 2019 and it seems to have slipped so much. Not a great value for the price in our opinion. Most likely would not return.
