Could not fault this hotel one bit! The hotel is spotless and everything is up to an amazing standard! The staff are so lovely and couldn't do enough for you. The party nights for the entertainment are top tier! Food choices are amazing with numerous restaurants to choice from and the quality of the food is outstanding! The choice of pools and swim up bars are amazing! Honestly dont have one bad thing to report on this hotel

May 20, 2025Bed Bugs and Bad Food
We went for a birthday the resort is extremely old the elevators are not inspected very old move slow the numbers are faded you cant see the floor numbers. The food is terrible I mean I actually lost weight and most restaurants were buffet 😂. The drinks are terrible it said premium liquor Everything IS BOTTOM SELF. You could drink an entire bottle straight and still be ok. Duty tax free I should have got a few bottles so bring your own liquor. The rooms we asked to be moved because the first room has NO AC the second room the temp was prob 77 with the fan on still too hot. The fan made so much noise but we had to use it due to the lack of ac. The water for shower was lukewarm but ok. The beds felt like jail cell pallets and after 4 days last day I had bed bugs bites and the rest of the 7 people had them to. I immediately washed all my clothes even the new ones sprayed luggage left in the garage. The staff was nice I tipped everyone even the maids daily, cooks etc. The best food was on the beach eat jerk chicken take it to the room if you trying to survive this place tip him please. No microwaves in the room but I'm a survivalist I warned the chicken using the coffee pot 😂 it worked. Those containers just place it on the warmer you will thank me. You have to improvise when you are in a poor environment. They definitely need to invest in new mattresses and cooks. Now the guy that cooks the eggs he on point I tipped him everyday they need to give him a raise. If you go take bed bug spray no sense of bringing a blue light they everywhere and management knows it. Keep your good clothes

Good holiday but definitely not a 5 star
I am still at the RIU republica having spent a week here and this is a very honest review of my stay here Positives The hotel is massive with lots of restaurants, swimming pools and bars Rooms are very big and have everything. Always kept clean Mostly the people are friendly. Service was really good too in the restaurants Beach area is excellent. Never have a problem finding a sunbed either on the beach or near the Pools. Entertainment is excellent especially the shows in the evening You can have a lot of fun here. But beware you won’t have a quiet stay. Negatives The service at the hotel reception is terrible I would queue up for a long time just to see someone. 5 times I had problems with our room cards not working. Every time I had to go to reception Some times I had to wait 20-30 minutes just to get our cards sorted Drinks - some are like water. Almost no alcohol content Food in buffet restaurant mostly the same all the time. I didn’t find the food to be all that special for a hotel boasting 5 stars. The food is at best 4 star and maybe 3.5. I tried most of the restaurants. My favourite was the Asian. The food was varied and delicious To make a reservation for the steakhouse means queuing out side for 30-40 mins in a line Not really what you need Overall, I enjoyed the stay but I don’t think I would come back again. I’ve been to other RIU hotels but this one I was a little disappointed They need to change the food a little more Make reception service better Drinks need to be better. And sort out the problems with the room cards not working

May 19, 2025Old, run down hotel aimed at 18-25 year olds on spring break. Avoid!
Booked for my partners 30th Birthday. Turns out this is an old, run down hotel aimed at 18-25 year olds on spring break. Accommodation: Limited plug sockets (i.e just 1) and lights working in the room. Foul stench of sewers 24/7. Bathroom door handle falling off (risk of getting locked in), shower head held up with a tie wrap. The room door lock works intermittently, sometimes the card works sometimes it doesn't, sometimes the door locks sometimes it doesn't. Broken tile on the floor so sharp it cut one of our parties feet wide open requiring stitches ($700); this is all by day 1 of our 10 night break (currently on day 2). This is two premium rooms booked by TUl, both equally poor. Food is mediocre across the buffets (the themed restaurants are also buffets), to be fair the staff work hard to keep up with the demand of ALOT of very drunk people. The gym is in serious need of some attention, broken kit everywhere. Positives: the jerk chicken near the beach is tasty. Recommendation: avoid at all costs unless you get it dirt cheap and you are on a stag / hen party. TUl rep Edison has been helpful (used to hearing it everyday | guess). Hotel management have not been helpful so far, offered a change for an additional $900. This is after paying $9300 for the original booking! We are considering booking alternate accommodation.
