  Montego Bay review

  The hotel and entertainment staff were really nice and friendly, but it should be an 18 to 30s hotel, as the behaviour around the pool by the young Americans is not for older people. The food is good. Our air conditioning went off 3 times, although the engineer did come to fix it, it went off again. The reception staff weren't very helpful and there was nobody at the customer service desk. I am a born Jamaican and love my country, but I would have to stay in the Palace next time.

  Pretty good, could have been better

  I stayed at the RIU Montego Bay from August 13 – August 17, 2026. PROS: The lobby area is beautiful. The front desk staff members were professional, helpful and friendly. They did a great job helping all the guests check-in. The buffet food consistently looked and tasted great. The staff at the bars were also friendly. They were willing and able to serve customers their drinks. The staff responsible for cleaning and maintaining the grounds were also up to the task, they did an exceptional job. The entertainment was great. Anyone could tell the hosts/performers/dancers put a lot of effort into their performances. Their interactions with the guests were also welcoming and entertaining. I was also relieved that no person working at this resort asked/begged me for money. CONS: I was assigned a room that was only accessible by stairs. Considering the amount of money I paid to stay at this 4 star hotel, that is unacceptable. The front desk promptly reassigned me to a room near an elevator but it looked like a service elevator. The elevator’s sloppy appearance was not suitable for guests at a resort. The housekeeping staff did a great job overall but I did notice a hair on my assigned bed prior to my room transfer. Housekeeping also neglected to clean my room one day because I had a DoNotDisturb door tag on my door. Did they realize I removed the door tag when I left the room early that afternoon ? I was disappointed in the staff that waited on guests at their table in the dining hall. The area was buffet style. All they needed to do was serve customers refreshments. The sodas were always flat. The service the waiters provided was slow. On two occasions, the staff made rude, fat-shaming comments to me that I did not appreciate. A female server asked me if I wanted a diet soda. A young male server made a comment about the amount of food on my plate. I informed a supervisor and he apologized. The rude male server never apologized to me.

  Better service

  Food service is the worst… Reservations are needed to dine-in but they are all booked up so you only have the buffet with the same food every day… We were turned around due to my husband wearing a muscle shirt however young ladies were half dress showing their buttocks and some had on water shoes but they were not told to leave. The pillows are flat and could be better.

  2 weeks holls at riu montego bay all booked with tui

  Friendly and very helpful staff, food very good, room very clean and a comfy bed, bar in the room stocked up every 2 days, can't fault the place really enjoyed it , went on a trip to chukka where we went on the zip lines never done it before but loved it ,followed by a lazy river raft with a foot rub that was relaxing, a great day out

  Terrible raciest remarks

  We are currently at RIU Montego Bay 27/8/26 to 10/9/26 for my wife’s birthday last night we was talking to one of the entertainment team and as we were walking off we heard another one of the team say to the other WHY Are You Talking To The White Girl are we not a valid customer I am today going to see if I can change hotels other staff kiss their teeth at us
