  Riu Palace exceeded my expectations

  My wife and i just returned from a glorious week from this stunning resort. Everything was perfect, from the delicious food to great service from the wait staff who always had a smile on their face and were more than willing to cater to your needs. Special shoutouts to Ramon the bellboy who went above and beyond to find us a beautiful room after the first 2 smelled a little musty. Also, special shoutouts to Ozuna, Roosevelt and Bartolo who were excellent wait staff. I would highly recommend this resort to anyone who is thinking of going. You will not be disappointed. We already planning to return in the near future.

  There are better rius

  Currently here now have stayed in many rius in several destinations and got to say up to now this isnt ticking many boxes Food hit m moss especially at breakfast be eaerly or go without certain items The drinks waiters at night and around beach and pool deserve every tip they get know what everyone has . Now for entertainment shows at noght ate some of the best we've seen Day time ha ha ha if you dont live in the pool bar or are over 40.forget it I have just this minute witnessed a member of the animation team spend half an hour with some young couples literally on the next beds to us and despite trying to ge her attention she just walked away

  Riu palace is questionable, would think this resort as lowest level Riu

  Worst Riu experience I’ve had and have stayed at more than 5. Service was nonexistent…most times people seemed annoyed you sat in their section. Eliz in elite club bar was great. Josephina with housekeeping awesome, but rest of experience was disgusting. First day there was a guy passed out in the gym for over an hour with urine on the floor and staff came in and looked and didn’t wake him or clean. I don’t know a nice way of saying the clientele at this resort has never had a vacation and were loud, rude and entitled. If you want pool music to be the “N” word every other lyric it’s your place, but would tell people to stay away from what felt like a nightclub from breakfast to past dinner.

  No 3rd time return

  We stayed here 2 years ago and had an amazing time. Decided to come back for our honeymoon the experience wasn't the same this time 1. Some of the young staff were rude and never smiled. Caught the waiter on the beach hiding in the palm trees so he didn't have to work. 2. If you were another nationality staff engaging but when started speaking English some staffs attitude changed. 3. Sargassom on the beach was shocking at one stage when I stepped into it to get to the sea it was knee deep. 4. The room cleaning staff were amazing faultless left them a good tip on leaving as they deserved it always polite and happy 5. The buffet food looked nice and prepared but numerous times the food was cold and lack of it being cooked also the floor was very slippy accident waiting to happen. 6. A British tourist had a bad accident around the pool her head bleeding profoundly it took ages for the doctor to attend to her lucky one of the tourists was a doctor. We had some good experiences this time round but was not the same as 2 years ago sadly to say we won't be returning back to DR or possibly a RUI again.

  Holiday Review

  Due to the logistics of the resort , it appears this place is we’re American tourist’s come to party for a long weekend. The American tourist Benidorm, loud and louder. Not against a good time, but some behaviour shocking. So avoid if this is not what you want. Hotel Had to move rooms, as general failures with first room, which included mold, damp and lack of working appliance’s. Most people had moved rooms at least once during their stay we found out through general guest communication. Service, depended on you tipping after every drink and would often run out of branded drinks and try to pass them off.You have to go to another bar yourself to get it. Understaffed pool bar service for amount of guests staying at the hotel. Entertainment. Not bad throughout, and they worked hard. Pool cleaning not existence until complaint’s made.Pool bar especially dirty, but what do they expect, when people are eating and drinking in the middle of the pool.Hygiene, Health Safety compliance not good. All pools, not just the pool bar. We started going to the beach, because of the above.Not the prettiest beach, but better than the pool. Be up early if you want a decent sun-bed, and do not be surprised, if you find someone moving your things when at lunch as I did.Challenged the arrogant tourist , who advised they were cleaning it for me. Not the fault of the hotel, but the manners of certain tourists. Food Buffet repetitive , could find something if you had too. Had a few theme night but Italian night, no lasagne, meatballs or linguini ? Food across the entire hotel not five star standard and would say only three. Got food poisoning on the last night, still on medication. Well not sure if a drugs cartel was on holiday at the same time as we holidayed here, it was everywhere.Smoked around all pools and you could smell it when on your balcony.I though it was legal until I googled it. Several guests raised this with management, but little done to stop it. Will not return and would not recommend. Not had a holiday as bad as this for a good twenty years. Would also not book with Tui again.
