Oct 09, 2026Great Location - Strong Drinks - Stellar Service
From start to finish our stay at the royal kona is just what we needed. Check-in was easy, and with the rate we got, we had free parking, waived resort fees, and to our surprise - two free mai tais upon arrival! Staff was friendly and easy going, the room was good for what we needed. The only bummer was the lack of a microwave, but other than that - the mai tai bar had the strongest drinks in town. Also the cheapest! Great deal - with a spectacular view. The pool attendant was lovely and when there were no seats - set up a cabana for us for the hour at her own leisure. Great service. You can’t beat the location to - head over to Huggos while you stay here - it’s a great dining with an even better view at sunset.

Great Location on the Water
We stayed one night padding through Kona. The location was waterfront with great views, restaurant, pool and close to everything.

Good times always!
As residents of the Big Island this is our go to place for a little “staycation”. Love the comfortable beds, the large rooms and the location right on the waterfront.

Worth the price in all aspects
The location of the hotel is very good with walkable distance from restaurants and shops. The atmosphere is good with clean areas and a stage which hosts performances and shows. There are complimentary Yoga classes in the morning. The campus is also calm and quiet. Room service is also quite good and we used to find the room had been serviced when we used to return from our day tours, which was very welcoming. We booked through Costco and it was well worth the price and value for money.

First impression from the outside is this place isn’t white like in the pictures, it’s yellow? Overall the staff was very friendly, helpful. Our room was spacious and had a nice view. We were on the outside of the Bay building facing town. Then the music started. Believe it was coming from Laverne’s. You’d have thought the band was playing on our balcony. Had no idea when it would stop. Love music but we aren’t night owls and it was really loud which isnt an exaggeration. I told them we wanted to move. Person who helped us took the time and was able to find a room we could move to the next day. They made the move happen earlier than planned. The air conditioning unit for the building below drowned out the ocean most of the time but much better than previous room. Pool was great. Room was a nice size with room to spread out. The high top table and chairs on the balcony allowed for clear line views. Restaurant was nice with a great location on the water. Parking was convenient. Short walk to several restaurants. There was a small beach and lagoon where you could snorkel or just enjoy being in the ocean without getting pounded by waves.
