This hotel could be a five star with a few improvements
This hotel could easily be a five star with a few tweaks. It has a great location, but it is resting on its laurels and not making the few changes it needs to be all it can be. Customer service is great, and the rooms are very pretty, but the rooms lack modern features. There are no electrical plugs by the nightstands next to the bed, or in the bathroom. In fact, there are few electrical plugs in the room. The light in the bathroom is very dim and makes it difficult for makeup application. Also, no makeup mirror like other hotels in Greece. There is no full-length mirror anywhere in the room, another standard in hotel rooms. Lastly, and most distressing, they turn off the air conditioning in the middle of the night and only fan air comes out. I thought this was not very nice and it made it quite uncomfortable for sleeping. This made it a 3-star hotel for me.

Not even close to 5 star hotel
Perhaps this hotel was 5 star in 1980’s. Now it’s maximum 3 stars. Location is not the best, although not bad either. It was hard to connect wifi to iPad. Only one electric socket by the bed. Then you can either have a light on or phone charged, not both. Shower in a bath. Smallest tv set I’ve seen for 20 years, and it’s not even working (no tuned channels). 7 elevators to accommodation but corridors are not interconnected. Therefore I had to come to the lobby from 6th floor to get to the breakfast on 7th floor. Elevators are quite small and busy at the morning. Therefore it took walking 15 floors to get breakfast. Setteling the bill was not possible before midnight. Some personnel was very rude, especially at breakfast. This is by far the worst hotel I have had for years. I see absolutely no reason to pick it. I wouldn’t have reserved it if it wasn’t pre-arranged congress accommodation.

Not worth 5*
Our room was the most depressing I have encountered in my 50 years of travelling round the world. There were no overhead lights and only two low watt table lamps with an equally low wattage standard lamp. There were no charging points and a lack of plug sockets meaning we had to unplug lamps to charge anything! This made the room even more miserable! The bathroom had a sink with no surround or shelving so we had to keep going backwards and forwards to our bedroom to get one amenity at a time! The overhead shower didn’t work so we had to use the hand held one. The hair dryer had to be plugged in outside the bathroom which meant it hardly stretched far enough to see yourself in the mirror! There was only one bedside cabinet which held one of the huge table lamps so a chair had to be used as a bedside table. We had to rely on daylight from the window to be able to read anything. In addition the TV wasn’t tuned and all the channels were fuzzy. The only positive about the room was that beds were at least comfortable. The breakfast was unappealing with only hard apples, pears, bananas and Kiwi fruit available. There were only two types of fruit juice and only one alternative milk available. All the plates were cold and the food was tepid as the containers were left open . Finally, according to the front desk staff there weren’t any managers on site with whom we could discuss our grievances. From our experience we would lik

Super Convenient, Comfortable Hotel for Touring Athens
Along with our tour group of 40+ friends, we had the privilege of staying at the Royal Olympic Hotel during our time in Athens. The hotel is a 5-10 minute walk away from the Acropolis Museum, the Acropolis, Hadrian’s Arch, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the National Gardens, and the Plaka neighborhood for shopping. Restaurants in the Maristraka neighborhood are a 15-20 minute walk and certainly doable, although you may want to catch an Uber or Taxi for an evening dinner. Royal Olympic Hotel has the staff and facilities to handle touring groups of all sizes efficiently; multiple bell men are ready to help you with your luggage and the front desk staff is equally efficient with check in/check out and other services including laundry and dry cleaning services. The rooftop restaurant offers a stunning view of the Parthenon with both indoor and outdoor dining; we dined there on our own in our first evening and our dishes were delicious and our server was outstanding. During our tour of Greece and the islands, we had three separate stays at the Royal Olympic Hotel and experienced several of the room accommodations. As other reviews note, we found that the rooms were very clean and well-maintained but the carpeting and furnishings appeared a bit dated. Finally, our tour’s per night room rates were well below other hotels near the Ancient City, thus the Royal Olympic Hotel offers tremendous value, efficient services, and a very comfortable stay for any traveler. There are other hotels nearby that offer a boutique, luxury hotel experience at a higher price. Our tour chose location and value and we are glad they did! Thank you to everyone at the Royal Olympic Hotel!

Avoid The Royal Olympic Hotel
I organised a hotel stay for our American friends and as we had been booked to stay at the Royal Olympic booked by our travel agents, I made bookings on behalf of our friends as it was easier to do it from the UK. The Hotel made a complete mess with the booking so much do that we were called on our mobiles one afternoon asking them to come back to the Hotel immediately to pack up t g EUR belongings! Not that simple when you're at the Acropolis! When I asked why they had to move, all the reception said was that that room was only booked for the previous night and not the following night. I might add that these were their premier rooms at additional costs not the standard rooms. I then located the email I had confirming the booking (which was some 4 months earlier) and all they said was, well that is not what has been booked? I said it's clear in black and white what has been booked and if they hadn't booked it, it was their fault and not our friends, so why should they move! They wouldn't have it and said the person who confirmed the booking by email was off ill so they couldn't speak to her. As for their standard rooms, they smelt damp and the lift service to the bar and restaurant was totally ineffective. One lift which took about 5 people. The service at the bar was unbelievably slow.
