  Antigua 🇦🇬😁 Royalton 😏🙁

  The hotel is lovely. Grounds are well kept and clean. Room was kept clean and is well maintained. The beach area is ok although a bit rammed with beds ( think sardines in a tin)!! Some of the staff are beyond excellent but most are not. A huge shout out to SHARON on the cooking station in the buffet. SHE IS FABULOUS and probably the best person we saw the whole two weeks. HEZELDEEN, front of house lady….she was also superb and we looked forward to seeing her most days! If you are looking for lovely hot food on your holidays do not come here. If you aren’t bothered then it is passable. There is something not quite right in the management of the kitchen staff. The fish fryer is rarely turned on for lunch and no one seems to be able to do this simple task. ( I only eat fish so hence the issue!) The whole food experience is just very frustrating and we could not understand why! I do have to say that almost all of the staff make you feel like you are in the way and that you shouldn’t be asking for anything! We had a waitress one evening slam two wine glasses on the table and we actually thought they might smash! She was in such a mood! They definitely need to fire Lisa from the buffet restaurant… quite possibly the rudest and most useless server I have ever come across. Such a shame because with the correct management and a few tweaks it has the potential to be like the other Caribbean Royaltons that we have been to. Would we go back there? Not to this hotel but Antigua yes.

  poor service- felt ripped off

  Went to Royalton Antigua in January- I felt ripped off-paid extra for diamond level and really had a poor experience-rooms are okay, entertainment not bad, beach and pool are beautiful. The food is just okay, The bad part is the staff-they really dont care about the customers, 70% of them act like your bothering them with any requests you make, service is extremely slow- Also they dont know how to say thank you and are inpolite- Paid a lot for diamond club and all they have is a small room with self service for drinks. they are out of a lot of liquors and items such as mint for mojitos- do yourself a favor and avoid this resort. The management is non responsive and the staff needs training. I should have listened to the reviews before I went. By the way I went to another marriot Bonvoy affiliated hotel- the westin playa conchal in costa rica a few weeks before the Royalton and it was amazing!! the exact opposite- go there instead!!

  Would be 5 star except for operational/ administrative deficiencies admin

  Top Notch Resort but wanting in checkin procedure, mini bar stocking, inconsistent restaurant opening times versus posted ones and room allocation vs pre booking requests. Although the staff tried to make things organized when we checked in and were given our wristband keys they did not work and we had to go back to the Diamond Club hub to have them reprogrammed. Many people during that check-in went through the same thing. Transport from the lobby to the main Hotel block seemed unorganized so we ended up walking to the hotel block which wasn't a major imposition but may have been with those of limited mobility. Coffee in the room was nice but our room went two days without fresh coffee cups and coffee packs. Having the mini bar stocked was a continual issue even when calling the front desk and the mini bar service. We had pre-booked and pre check-in remotely for the hotel asking for a lower floor and a king size bed. We were given one of the top floors with two queen size beds. Can I buy you a gabby dog the restaurant we ate in were excellent. Hunter restaurant specializing in Steakhouse beef was at pleasant surprise as they cooked my New York steak 100% the way I asked. It was every bit as good as the best steakhouses back in Ontario. The Graz ia Italian restaurant was also excellent with the carpaccio and the seafood risotto being my personal favorite. Be sure to register for each restaurant as soon as possible as the prime seating times are taken up fast especially for larger groups. You can do this outside the Culinary experience spot ( beside the buffet restaurant) in the left hand corner as there is somebody there from 10:00 a.m. on. The buffet itself was pretty much the same daily with a few switchouts for lunch and dinner but there was plenty of choices to be had. One of the nice things about this Resort is that there was plenty of lounges so even if you slept in you were pretty well much assured of a lounge without having to reserve with a towel. In the kiddie pool area there is a chipwagon that serves various but my favorite is the homemade meat patties. They are limited so if you want one you should go by when they open at noon. They have chicken and beef but by far the most authentic is the beef which is spicy. If you like authentic jerk be sure to stop by nibbles restaurant on the beach. While the portions are small, I ordered three orders of wings as one order only came with three wings, and I asked for authentic jerk seasoning. They were hot and authentic really enjoyed them went there twice. The grounds are well manicured and gorgeous in the pool area is right beside the beach so you can enjoy both with the poolside bar in the center of the action. All in, we will be back as it's only half an hour from the airport and a real slice of heaven.

  Paradise

  This holiday will live in my memory forever. Everywhere we went in the Royalton we were greeted with a warm welcome, smiles and “ Welcome to Paradise” - and it was! We were a party of seven - ages ranging from 20 months to 74 years and everyone of us had the holiday of a lifetime. The location is second to none - idyllic beach, many facilities, swim up bar, jacuzzi and pool. The staff were so warm and friendly, the food was fantastic, the rooms were immaculate and spacious, the maid service was thorough and daily, the vibe team were superb and the entertainment was top quality. I have been fortunate enough to have travelled extensively - staying at top 5 star hotels around the world. I put this experience at the Royalton in Antigua as one of the best holidays I’ve been lucky enough to experience. Thankyou sincerely, I’ll be back. Thoroughly recommend.
