  Small resort that was comfortable for a short visit if it wasn’t for the construction noise next door.

  The welcoming was perfect and staff was very friendly. They offered fruit punch drink or fruit punch rum drink. Grounds were very pretty and well kept. We stayed the last week in Oct and there was very few people there which made it very quite and no problems getting in for meals or cabanas by the beach. Beach area was excellent but they did not have anyone to order drinks from. You had to go to the restaurant bar and get them yourself. Rooms were clean and spacious - washer and dryer are in the room which was really nice. Bed was very very soft ( which I loved and slept really well) patio had 2 lounge chairs and a table was large and screened in to keep bugs and birds out. Resort is only about a 1/2 miles to shopping and more restaurants with sidewalks and felt totally safe at all times. Check out was seamless. Now for the not so good. A huge report is being built next door - very noisy all day even Sunday. Down by the beach not so bad but the waves were crashing so it took a lot of the noise away. It looked like it was snowing one day from white insulation falling every where from construction. They claimed to have a lazy river but you would need to get up every 30 feet to walk up 2 steps and cross a bridge. Small hot water tank in room so don’t take too long of a shower. It’s a small resort all the paths were pretty close so not a lot of waking besides the beach or the sidewalks off property if your looking to really get a good walk in.

  Serious Invasion of Guest Privacy – Housekeeping Entered Without Knocking Before Checkout

  I am extremely disappointed and upset by my experience at The Sands Resort, particularly the complete disregard for guest privacy. On the morning of checkout, at approximately 9:00 AM, my boyfriend took our luggage to the car while I remained in the room getting dressed. To my absolute shock, a male member of housekeeping entered the room while I was completely naked. He did not knock, announce himself, or provide any warning whatsoever before entering. What makes this situation even more unacceptable is that the resort’s checkout time is 11:00 AM, meaning I still had approximately two hours remaining before I was expected to vacate the room. This was an incredibly embarrassing, invasive, and upsetting experience. I should never have been placed in a position where a hotel employee could walk into my room unannounced while I was undressed. The fact that he made no attempt to knock or identify himself beforehand makes this incident even more disturbing. The removal of luggage does not mean a guest has checked out, nor does it give housekeeping permission to enter an occupied room. At the very minimum, hotel staff should knock, announce themselves, and verify that a room is vacant before entering. These are basic hospitality standards, not unreasonable expectations. I felt exposed, disrespected, and extremely uncomfortable in a space where I should have been afforded complete privacy. What should have been a peaceful end to my stay instead became an unnecessarily distressing experience that was entirely preventable. I sincerely hope management takes this incident seriously, investigates what occurred, and reviews its housekeeping procedures to ensure no other guest experiences this level of embarrassment and invasion of privacy. Guest privacy should never be compromised. An 11:00 AM checkout means guests are entitled to occupy their rooms until that time, and knocking before entering should be the absolute minimum standard of professionalism.

  This is essentially a holiday Inn

  The sands at grace bay is rated 4 stars but it is just categorically not a 4 star hotel. It is equivalent to a holiday inn on an amazing beach and should be priced and enjoyed as such. - Rooms have clear evidence of heavy use including rust and wear and tear - insect screens prevent the balconies from being anywhere you would ever choose to spend time - the gym is essentially 2 pieces of rusty and broken cardio machines, and some weights - the construction of a large hotel next door means noise at alll times - the lazy river is just a ditch. It does not move or barely moves - the beach is covered in trash and no one picks it up - the food at the restaurant is terrible All that being said this hotel is staffed by some very nice people. It’s not their fault and they try. Put it this way - we checked out after one day and stayed elsewhere even though we were paying double bc life is too short to go on vacation to a bad holiday inn for $600 a nignt. Still fighting with Chase about why this hotel is categorized as a 4 star on their site

  AVOID!!

  This place is absolutely awful. Having read the reviews I understood it wasn’t going to be perfect but it’s worse than expected. Dirty loud rooms

  The worst welcome

  Six of us went to the Sands ready to start our vacation and when we arrived no one had a smile or a welcome. We got there early so our rooms were not quite ready so we waited but then 3:30 came around and still they weren't ready. 2 of our rooms were not how they were described and we had to pretty much fight to get what we saw on line. At some point I was told that i needed to reach out to the vendor because they put up the wrong information. A manager, Meshelle, came out to speak to me and at the end changed the room. The worst thing is that as I was there, someone else was complaining about the same thing. Sasha, the afternoon concierge, made sure all of our excursions and reservations were ok. The resort is fabulous. Very clean and well maintained. The housekeeping staff was very courteous. Lots of my friends have seen the pictures and want to come to Turks and Caicos, because of Meshelle and Sasha, I will recommend the resort.
