    Fabulous

Getting “areas for improvement” out of the way. Yes some of the beach loungers are broken, the area between mahogany restaurant and the lifts would benefit from a lick of paint, the pools are quite small (but who cares…we were in Barbados, not Clacton…the Caribbean sea was 10 metres away)…and please bring back the advertised pool table!! However…that’s nit picking. This is a fabulous place if you are looking for a welcoming, relaxing vibe with comfortable, large rooms, a wide selection of good food and drinks and world class service. Nothing is too much trouble; the hotel has a huge number of staff, all working hard to make sure their guests have a memorable stay. This is what sets Sea Breeze apart from pretty much anywhere else I have stayed, all round the world. Never once did any member of staff, from any department (including maintenance) shrug their shoulders and send me off to speak to someone else. The staff also seem to have an incredible ability to remember names, which brings a very warm touch. This is not a “6 star mega resort”. It’s also not a party hotel in a noisy nightlife area. It’s a well appointed, smaller hotel in a secluded spot (but a short taxi ride from more action) on a magnificent beach…with plenty of facilities, activities and evening events, owned by a local family and part of a small (2 or 3 I believe) chain of local hotels. That’s the feel and is exactly what we wanted. I can’t list all the staff here, but wanted to mention Marcia (who can make 3 perfect omelettes and 4 poached eggs at the same time), Joanna, to whom my 12 year old son took a particular shine, the distinguished gentleman behind the cocktail bar at De Rum Shop and all the guys at the beach, who made everything a lot of fun. Last, but certainly not least, Fabian (guest ambassador) who, from the moment we arrived, made everything smooth and easy,…booking tours, answering my multiple questions and requests for advice/ help and even arranging a hire car at very short notice…on his day off!! He even made sure we knew our departure transfer had arrived and waved us off. A final request…please don’t flood the beach with more sun loungers. There are plenty, the beach is so beautiful, it should be visible and enjoyed. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Belated review - Sea Breeze Beach House - couple with child

Belated review (I meant to submit in June 2025) ... We spent 9 nights at the Sea Breeze Beach House, St Lawrence Gap in Barbados at the end of May 2025 all-inclusive in room 324. Some points we really liked which we would like to highlight are all the rooms have a sea view and all the hotel staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. We had a great experience with all the staff at the hotel, but some that really spring to mind are Tia who helped us with a lot of our restaurant bookings at breakfast, and both Robert and Damien at the Tipsy Bar, who were great with our child. The island is easy to travel around and all beaches are open to the public. The only real negatives during our stay were an island wide water issue on the day we arrived which caused disruption, and the sea weed and rough water conditions on the beach meant we never got to swim or do water-sports at the hotel which was a shame. Neither of these were within the control of the hotel but the latter is worth noting if you are thinking of visiting at this time of year. Throughout our stay, the hotel arranged free transport and entry to a beach on Carlisle bay slightly further up the west-coast where the seaweed was not an issue, which we thought was a very nice touch, and we made use of this free transport and entry several times during our stay and even saw a stingray in the shallow water. We also went on a Minibus Island Tour which lasted about 4 hours and covered the majority of the island, a Tiami Catamaran Cruise which covered the west-coast including several beach stops, lunch and snorkelling with turtles and other Sealife, and the Atlantis Submarine Dive in which we saw even more Sealife. During our time on the Island, we visited Bridge Town including local points of interest (Government Building, National Hero monuments, Rihanna Drive the Garrison area and the Kensington oval). We travelled up the west-coast with stunning beach stops at Carlisle Bay (shipwreck and turtles) and Heron Bay, and also visited Holetown and Speightstown. Moving over to the east of the island, we visited Cherry Tree Hill with great views and some other points of interest down the more turbulent east-coast where surfing competitions are held. At the hotel, we used the main pools (other than the adult-only one), we used the kids club several times (a first for us), and ate at the Mahogany buffet restaurant (including the Jamaican and seafood night), the Aqua Terra restaurant (a la carte), and the Cerulean restaurant (including the beach BBQ and Bajan nights). During the day, we had some very nice meals around the pool area from the Flying Fish restaurant, but our favourite was the Tipsy Bar with its hot loaded fries, other hot snack food and strong alcoholic beverages tucked away on the beach. We did not really use the Rum Shack due to its location by the adult-only pool.

Second timers and it wont be our last visit

This is our second visit to the Sea Breeze for February half term and it wont be our last. It is the perfect place to go to escape the cold in the UK and get some sunshine - lots of other families there at the same time and the kids all played so together nicely. The staff are always so welcoming, the food is wonderful and varied. The cleaners do a fantastic job keeping it all clean. We will be back!

A fantastic stay which was spoiled by a water leak

We had a great stay at the Sea Breeze which, unfortunately, was spoiled by an issue with our room. More of that later. The hotel was located next to a very nice beach. There were plenty of sun loungers (although a few of them could do with replacing). The bar staff were frequently coming over and taking drinks orders. The food in all the restaurants was excellent. We couldn't fault the quality of the food or the restaurant staff. The bar staff were great and mixed some excellent cocktails during our stay.... The location was good for Oistins Fish Market (about a 25 minute walk). Alternatively, you could experience a ZR Taxi (minibus) which were plentiful and would stop pretty much anywhere in the street. It was basic transport but cheap. Depending on traffic, Bridgetown was about 30 to 45 minutes in ZR. We had a Junior Suite (sea facing) which was spacious, clean and well stocked with drinks etc. Overall the room was very comfortable with great views of the beach and sunsets. However, the whole experience was marred by a particular issue. Two days before checking out we noticed water emanating from a bank of light switches and running down the wall. We notified the hotel management about it, and the duty manager came and saw the problem. He mentioned that we would probably be moved to another room and would confirm later. (For obvious reasons, I told him that we would not be using the lights switches.) Unfortunately, that was the last we heard from the hotel. We received no further communication from the hotel regarding being moved to another room nor did we receive any update on whether the water leak had been investigated and/or rectified. We weren't even advised if it was safe to use the switches. Accordingly, for the final two days we didn't use the lights affected by these switches. Quite frankly, the lack of communication was appalling. We had a insincere apology from reception when we checked out, and that was it. Despite this issue, we would stay at the hotel again. We were just so bitterly disappointed with the way we were treated with this issue.

    Beautiful spot

The resort itself is a 5/5. Our room was fantastic; comfortable bed, nice linens, a/c worked great. Very spacious with lots of storage and a fridge stocked daily with bottled water, a kettle with tea and coffee and a safe. The place is very quiet and steps from a stunning beach with the softest sand imaginable. Lots of comfy loungers available with shade if desired. Everything is well laid out and in close proximity. The food is a 3/5. The à la care restaurants aren’t worth the time of day. The food is poor and portions very small. One night it took 30 minutes to even get a drink on our table. The food when it came was terrible. If you’re ok eating buffet for breakfast and lunch and dinner everyday then stick with that. The best food is actually the tacos from the Tipsy bar on the beach which became our favourite spot.
