Amazing time at Secrets Akumal!
From the moment we checked in until the moment we left, we were absolutely floored by the attention we received from everyone! The grounds were immaculate and the property overall is very well maintained. A special shout out goes to our concierge Sergio (Mr. Chan). He was our building concierge (each building has one). Everyday he came by to see us and made sure we had what we needed. The staff of the resort go above and beyond to pamper you at every step. For example, everyday, a guy with an ice cream cart makes his way around each pool starting about 1 handing out cones. Also, another staff member came around a couple times during the week and cleaned our sunglasses! There is a wide variety of food here and about 8-9 restaurants to choose from. While the food isn’t ‘gourmet’, it was very good overall (we didn’t like the French or Greek restaurants though), so you won’t go hungry! This was our first time here but we will most definitely be back! Other posters have mentioned that they were often approached about the Hyatt timeshare, but we were never approached. Our room was a junior suite (I believe this is the smallest room, but I assure you it was very spacious- a patio, bedroom and sep bath area with a jacuzzi tub as well as a tub on the patio in the preferred club, which had a view of the pool and a small sliver of ocean behind). We were on the top floor in the corner. We agree with other posters that while the preferred club isn’t really necessary (gives you a better room location, a special lounge and an extra restaurant (Greek)), for us, the diff in price was very negligible, so we did it. The beach, while public, has plenty of umbrellas and chairs, so even if the resort is full (which it was for half our stay), there’s no need to wake up early to get one. Yes, there’s seaweed (it’s a prob everywhere in the carribbean) but they had staff raking it up daily so it wasn’t a big deal. We highly suggest taking a tour with ‘Johnny’ to see sea turtles. It was $50 for 2 of us ( the hotel charges $50 ea) and it was amazing!! They take you into the protected area where we saw prob 5-6 turtles, rays and other fish. You wear a life vest but no fins are allowed. You are ‘towed’ by a guide with a life ring to hold onto while snorkeling. He’s in a bass pro shop hat everyday just walking along the beach by the boats, so look for him. Hint- go early!! We took an 8 am tour and were one of just a handful of people in the water. As a result, we prob got within just a few feet of the turtles, which was so cool to see them in their natural habitat! Or, just look for people in orange vests. He has a little shack in front of the akumal dive shop about a 5 min walk down the beach. Take a left when you get to the beach and you can’t miss it. There are 2 dive shops next to each other, but he’s by the further one- the akumal dive shop. The other one is the akumal dive center. The evening shows were mostly good. They do a pirate show by the pool one night which was fun, plus a fire show by the quiet pool another night. They also had a Beatles show one night w a tribute band and some acrobats. It was ok- felt a bit disjointed. We did one tour through the hotel’s tour agent-amstar- to Tulum and a catamaran. The whole day really felt rushed and we weren’t very impressed with the service. The guides, however, were good. If you can, book tours through someone else. The upside to Amstar tho is that they have a dedicated desk at the hotel so all their tours pick up and drop off there (tho you’ll be with people from other area hours, so the transportation felt like a bus stop). Finally, there are 3 pools. The front pool is by the lobby and is a quiet pool. It’s huge and they play soft new age type music. The back 2 pools are by the beach and are also big but def louder. They have activities there everyday so check the Hyatt all inclusive app. We hung out mostly at the quiet pool since everyday from lunch-about 4pm they have a dj at the back pool. In the end, we absolutely loved this resort. My wife and I love all inclusives and this was by far, the best one. We have other places to see, but we def will return here in the future!

Secrets Akumal well worth it.
Resort was better than expected. Much better than the usual all-inclusives. Very clean resort. Food was great at every place we ate. Service was great throughout. Beach was nice with calm waters for snorkeling. Only draw back on the entire trip was the airport mess and shuttle service.

Loved it!
Amazing resort. One of the nicest I've ever been at. Staff is great. Food is delicious. Exactly what you would expect from a 5 diamond Secrets. Will definitely be back. One of the few id go to twice. Beach was nice. Pools were sparkling. Spa was superb.

As good as the first time
We took our top performers from my company to Secrets Akumal for the second time. Last was 2021. Great service and amazing property. Lots of entertainment on site. Highly recommended for couples or a company trip. Worth the hour+ ride from the Cancun airport.

Most wonderful time
It was the most wonderful time at Secrets Akumal! It's a mgic place of beauty, from the lush gardens to all the fascinating animals on the grounds, from the perfect beach to the luxurious pools and stylish buildings. Most of all: the stuff is so friendly and caring that so you feel really special and welcome. Special shout out to our concierge Sofia for wonderful romantic surprises and perfect organization, from getting a rental car to extra furniture on the balcony to late checkout, really brilliant! The front pool Keepers (Luis, Ruben and Antonio) also helpdesk us so much getting shade all the time it was amazing. See you all next year :-)!
