We visited this resort for one day via ResortPass. After this experience, I would never return to Secrets Aura and am unlikely to use ResortPass again. The resort staff was very unfriendly and unwelcoming, and there was not a single person that knew how to handle visitors who purchased a day pass. (Jesus at the front desk was especially difficult). Even after purchasing the upgraded “preferred club” pass, we were met at every turn with questions and confusion and disbelief that we belonged in the “preferred” section of the resort. The buildings appeared to be in poor condition, though we only observed them from the outside. The beach and pool chairs were not kept up well - they were dirty, discolored, left out overnight and soaking wet. It was very hard to find a clean, dry towel. The “premium” liquor was not great. The breakfast was lower quality than many below-average restaurants, but the lunch fajitas were good. There were no “water sports” as promised and the beach was very full of seaweed. If I had to stay at this resort for more than a day, I would find other lodging options.

Last Secrets I will be staying at!
If you are considering this resort, I would recommend you stay at their sister property Dreams next door. In addition to a cheaper price tag, the facilities there are newer and nicer and you don’t have to pay an upgrade for preferred club status as it is all included in their Dreams price. Secrets Aura makes you pay extra for preferred status to use the other sister resorts and it also in need of some TLC. Things are falling apart and they seem to not be in a rush to upgrade the looks and facilities. The staff are really great and awesome however…just the facilities was a let down. Don’t buy into the resort credits. They pick what you can use it for and only allow you to use it for specific services and items which are already marked up.

It’s closed tonight
It’s closed tonight! Currently a guest and only 2nd night of a long stay; only to be told everything is open every other night! So your choice is reduced by 50% Other than Bordeaux restaurant service last night everything else has been poor at breakfast lunch and dinner. So far I am NOT impressed

Worst stay ever in my travel experience
Probably one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I’m not talking once, I’m talking the entire time. Request’s were made for the room and took over 24 hours for in room service. It was so bad we decided to leave early and find another hotel.

Decent but heads up
The resort was not quite what we expected. The overall resort maintenance was not upheld well. The shower in our room was hanging from the wall. The phone also didn’t work, however, it got fixed on our last night. I would note that the pictures online are very misleading. I would highly recommend upgrading to the Preferred Club, so that you can access the other resorts. We visited Dreams for about half of our meals, since the food variety at Secrets was limited. The customer service was pretty good; we only had a bad experience with one employee. Entertainment was very limited. There was a fire show on our first night, which was pretty cool. We also attended a Tequila Tasting, but other than that, there weren’t many events. Unfortunately, during our stay, Hurricane Helene hit and we spend a good chunk of time in our room. The resort did a great job responding to the storm, and delivered sacked lunches to our room. We were impressed with their preparation, but were also disappointed at the lack of activities to keep guests occupied.
