  Brilliant staff but tired hotel

  When I was a Manager I would have given my right arm for a staff team as hard working and professional as the staff at this hotel, we hope their salaries reflect this. The hotel was perfectly situated and our room was fantastic. The hotel needs to update however our room 16 was along a corridor which was crumbling sandstone walls. The hotel needs updating, the gardens are beautiful.

  Lovely Hotel

  This lovely hotel is situated directly above a wide sand beach with access to public pay sunbeds on the sand. In spite of this most guests opt to stay around the hotel pools that have the cooling breeze and adequate shades and comfortable loungers. The hotel is low key and it's only as you stay do you realise how good it is. The staff are constantly on the watch to help they are considerate and pleasant in attitude. Food quality is very good . The evening buffet is self select for the grill. Lobster turbot assorted meats for you to select and take to the grill chef.. there is also a ready cooked joint to have carved. This system can seem a bit quirky but you soon adapt to it. Additionally there are a wide selection of starters and excellent home baked cakes , cheesecakes and fruit mousse. These are not the usual bought in mass produced but seem to made in the hotel by an expert pastry chef. Meals are a constant surprise and pleasure as all ingredients are such high quality. There are comments arguing whether this is 4 or 5 star hotel these ratings are irrelevant it's a lovely hotel to stay at .it has tradition history a friendly atmosphere comfortable rooms great staff and mature gardens. What a great combination. Finally a bit about mobility. I have a walker and stick. I booked a superior deluxe room requesting garden view with terrace. I didn't realise this was not an option but on arrival I was allocated a junior suite with a terrace leading straight out to paths to the pool and gardens Perfect. However to get to the beach level does involve a number of steps to the level public promenade. Or you can go out of the hotel and access the beach down the side road. I really enjoyed my time here it is a really good atmosphere. Thank you.

  Should have comeback sooner!

  I’m sitting here writing this review with a hint of sadness as our transfer to the airport is due shortly. Where do I start with this review? Well probably October 1988 when my wife and I had our first overseas trip to this hotel. Frankly neither of us can remember very much about that trip some 38 years ago. It was clearly too long before we returned and so much has changed. Let’s turn to our visit now. Location:- ✔️. The hotel is on the Main Street and backs on to the beach. Great location Accomodation :- ✔️ . Comfortable rooms with air conditioning. Comfortable bed and good shower, Service:- ✔️ Excellent throughout the hotel. Every member of staff we came across were very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. Restaurants:- ✔️ a superb buffet breakfast in the World Cafe which also operates as a buffet restaurant in the evenings. Excellent choice of food. The only negative I would say was somewhat of a disappointment for the Pintxos Tapas restaurant. It’s only open a few night a week. Suggest you check the menu, unlike us! Had expected perhaps to see more traditional tapas dishes. There is entertainment in the evening on the garden terrace by the piano bar which was well worth watching. All in all we came for R&R and boy did we get it. I can only praise the staff at the Villamil and the accomodation. A great place to stay and we certainly won’t wait another 38 years before returning! Congratulations to all the staff at the hotel for making our stay wonderful.

  Lovely vacation

  Wonderful experience. Wish we stayed longer! Great room, great view, beautiful breakfast. Location in the heart of town made everything easier. Highly recommend this resort.
