Excellent break away at the beautiful Secrets Villamil
This was our second time visiting the beautiful Secrets Villamil and we enjoyed every second - already planning another stay for next June. This fabulous hotel is has a fantastic location. The back of the hotel, where the pools are, is situated practically on the beach while the front of the hotel is in a central position to Pagueras shops and restaurants. What my husband and I particularly like about this hotel is that there are so many little extras included that other hotels would normally charge for. The mini-bar for example and complimentary snacks around the pool. We were even given complimentary beach bags and travel cups (we were Preferred Club s not sure if other guests had the same). The only criticism I have is that I am not entirely sure that Preferred Club feels worth the extra money. This is for the following reasons: 1. Preferred club rooms have no better view than some of the non-preferred club rooms. We felt we were paying for a room with a better view of the beach, but this isnt the case as some of the non-preferred rooms have the same, if not better, view. 2. Preferred Club have a private pool and sun-bed area but there is no one checking that the people using this area are actually 'Preferred Club'. 3. There is no waiter service around the 'Preferred Club' pool. The bar staff will bring drinks to you, but you have to order at the bar first. 4. Non-preferred guests were often offered complimentary snacks and ice drinks that were not offered to preferred club guests - preferred guests seemed to be forgotten about. Preferred club guests do have a separate dining area at breakfast with a menu to order from - which was nice. They also have a room with complimentary drinks and snacks that they can visit as often as they like - but this needed to be better maintained as it was often filled with dirty glasses, cups and plates and items not re-stocked. We will be returning next year as it really is a lovely hotel and I would recommend it to anyone. However, I hope that Hotel Villamil read my comments about Preferred Club. If guests are to be charged extra for 'Preferred Club' then they should feel that its been worth it.

Disappointed
We chose the privilege option and junior suite with hot tub. Room was adequate but on opening the door you hit the bed. The bathroom had only enough room to turn from the sink, the toilet, the shower and the door. The only mirror was in the bathroom so doing make up etc was over the sink, would suggest a large full mirror in the room. The hot tub was the bath , on a balcony that we had to fill up ourselves with cold water. We were told the mini bar was free but it was never replenished. The privilege area was near the main doors , bars on the windows and covered with netting and no outside area to sit. Food limited and only plates were small side plates so you weren’t encouraged to eat much . The other privilege areas were pretty much open for anyone to use as no one ever asked for room number etc (except at breakfast ) . Apologies for going on so much but overall wished we hadn’t paid the extra as I don’t think it was worth it. The area outside the hotel is quite tacky and most shops and restaurants sell the same goods/ food etc. positives , the staff were friendly and helpful. The salt grill served amazing food The entertainment was very good The view was lovely and the beach was close Have stayed at Secrets hotels before and will continue to do so, but unfortunately I would not return to this hotel again.

Good location horrible reception staff
Have no problem with the hotel on the whole although I’m not sure I would rate it a 5* The staff on the ground are lovely especially Karin who went above and beyond when we had a problem with the very rude and unhelpful reception team. I sent an email to the guest experience manager MONIKA KREJCOVA when we were back in our room to explain what had happened at the reception and thought she would at the very least call us or come and knock on the door to see what had happened ( is this not what a guest experience manager does?) but instead we received a very standard email back. In complete contrast Karin found us the next day to apologise and make sure we were ok. All of this happened because we asked if we could book a Taxi to take us to a restaurant that night. Apparently they only book taxis for the airport! This is not 5* service in my experience! Reception is the first point of call and represent the hotel and I feel they let the hotel down with there very unhelpful and bad attitude. I would also like to give a big shout out to Miriam who was so polite and cheerful.

Surpassed all expectations
Truly a fantastic hotel in a beautiful and chilled area. Visiting with my Mum for a very special birthday and we couldn't have asked for more. We we were met by the beautiful Ainhoa at reception on arrival and went on to receive phenomenal service from all staff at all times. The courtesy room to get in prior to check-in was a fully equipped guest room with a sea view terrace - I've never known that level of service before. Entry via an incredible stone feature staircase that leads to the First floor where the walls are designed to tell the story of this prestigious hotel using a timeline - pretty cool. All public areas are finished and furnished to a high standard and constantly smell incredible- honestly! The rooms are lovely, ignore the comments about dated decor, they are classic with a modern twist and the level of finish is first-class. The front door is on the main strip in central Paguera, the back door leads right onto the beach. Good quality drinks that are reasonably priced. Whilst the food is high quality, I did find the cook-to-order concept in the buffet restaurant a little tedious. Evening entertainment is consistently good and varied. The highlight for me was the Gypsey Kings tribute night - very talented. I stay in Majorca 2-3 time a year and this hotel cannot be beaten. I urge you to try it.

First class treatment
First time visitor to Mallorca. Stayed at the wonderful Secrets Villamil Resort and Spa in Peguera. 5 star accommodation and treatment in a really lovely hotel and location, situated in a coastal bay. Staff and entertainment first class. Lots to do and see outside the hotel complex.
