  Spiritual retreat with nature!

  Before we arrived, I wasn't sure what to expect after reading reviews and looking at posted photos. Once we arrived, Secrets Papagayo's uniqueness really surprised me. It fits perfectly into its jungle and wildlife setting. Though it’s an older resort, we had a wonderful, comfortable, and relaxing stay. The bungalows nestled within the resort's beautiful natural surroundings looked picture-perfect. My days were filled with adventures—walking the steep hills, watching sunrises, and even kayaking on Papagayo Bay. Walking around the resort was breathtaking and became my daily workout. We were able to upgrade to the Preferred Honeymoon Suite on our fourth day, which made the resort views even more spectacular. Truly magical. I’m grateful to Joseph Mora, the concierge manager, for making our stay unforgettable. Joseph is amazing—kind, efficient, and very personable. Joseph, Marcos (Bellman ), Fabrico (Himitsu manager), and Christin (manager, Seaside) were all absolutely some of the best. As Impression Black members, we prefer luxurious accommodations; however, Secrets Papagayo stole our hearts. We’ll definitely return next year at the end of the dry season. Our week-long visit to this scenic resort was fabulous, spiritual, and refreshing. What makes this experience exceptional for me is the caring staff who always go the extra mile for their guests.   Great luxury hotel

  My wife and I had a very pleasant stay here. I have to say that the friendliness of the staff here is one thing we noticed. Its in all the departments. Kudos to the Tepaynyaki chef (I forgot her name), young lady had a great sense of humor and found a way to engage 3 groups of total strangers who included Germans who only knew "business English". Kudos to the bar tenders (they get busy) and never messed up the drinks.

  Very Satisfied Solo Traveler

  I traveled to Secrets Papagayo alone, just before the one year anniversary of my husband’s death. I was seeking relaxation, pampering, and hopefully new friends. I was definitely treated well by all of the staff, who patiently allowed me to practice my beginner’s Spanish with them. My favorite driver was Henry, who has a wonderful smile and lovely personality. Lauren in the spa was my masseuse and was excellent. William in the Preferred Club bar took such good care to remember my preferences and provide good conversation. Briange (sp?) in activities did a great job with the painting class and water aerobics, plus there was another young woman in activities whose name I didn’t get - also a fun water aerobics instructor. My favorite restaurant was the Seaside Grill- I ate several meals there and the food was delicious. Jose took care of me in the evenings and was engaging and attentive. And Erick was there for me at each breakfast and lunch. He provided exceptional service but even more importantly, conversation and friendship. He truly made the days more enjoyable by his kindness. Traveling solo to a couples resort may not be for everyone, but for me it was a perfect vacation. I felt safe and like I was surrounded by family by the end of the trip.

  Extremely hilly, lots of stairs and mediocre food.

  Very hilly. Lots of stairs. Food choices and quality mediocre. Can’t get around unless you call for transportation. Transportation generally quick.
