All in all, a great trip!

We had the pleasure of staying here for 10 nights in April in building 6 (non preferred) swim out suite and loved the location of our room.  Be advised that if you go in April and stay in a swim out, you will likely not get full sun on your patio.  Not sure about other months.  We were very lucky to have full sun until around 6pm being the end unit but we watched the sun exposure all around the resort and most of the swim outs got very little sun.  If sun is important to you, then you might want to skip booking a swim out.  It might be different May/June onwards as the sun gets higher for the summer months. All in all we had a great experience.   The staff is absolutely amazing !  Hands down the best group of people we have ever dealt with when on vacation.  The decor and finishes are gorgeous throughout.  The beach/pool towels are really nice.  Huge, soft and never a shortage.  We've been to other resorts that only allow you to have one towel each day but that's not the case here.  The Rendezvous/circle bar is a wonderful place to hang out.  It was always packed at night.  The numerous fire pits around the resort are beautiful after dark and very popular too. The Hyatt/Secrets app was user friendly and we feel that it's a great feature.  It was nice to not always be on the phone calling for things.  Our concierges were top notch !  Cannot praise them enough ! We read many FB posts about people getting sick and thinking it was the food, but the 4 of us ate and drank everything and none of us got sick at all.   We thought the food was mostly pretty good.  We all agreed that Himitsu was our favourite so we ate there 3 times (once was teppanyaki).  If you like sterling silver, the jewelry store on site is amazing and the gentleman that works there is super knowledgeable and will help you with any requests.  If you don't see exactly what you want, he will make it custom for you so go early in your trip so there is time for this.  Loved dealing with him and am very happy with my purchase !  Go see him ! Many other people have mentioned the leaking shower, difficult closet doors to open, TV turning on by itself at random times AND also changing channels on its own to the Secrets welcome menu  and lack of washrooms around the resort.  We completely agree with these as being negatives.  Our shower was one that leaked.  A rubber strip had already been installed before we arrived but it still leaked so we had to pile towels on the floor every day.  The magnets on the closet doors are very strong so the doors are difficult to open since there really is no handle to grip.  We were very glad to be in building 6 on the ground floor because we often just went back to our room to use the washroom when hanging out at Rendezvous.  Not sure why the resort has so few washrooms.  We've never seen this at any other resort.  Twice the TV turned on by itself when we were sleeping which was quite annoying.  We asked maintenance about it and they came to take a look.  They said the timer had been set on the remote so he turned it off.  This helped for two days, but then the issue started again and we did not touch the timer.  The TV turned on by itself at least twice each day. Our ac was anywhere from 20.0C - 25.8C even though we set it at 17.5C.  It was dripping water in our bathroom ceiling so maintenance came to take a look.  It was better after they adjusted it (twice), but we still found it not up to standard for a 5 star resort.  We know other guests had ac issues as well.  When the wood slat divider to the bathroom is pulled closed, it covers/blocks the ac vent which makes the room even warmer.  It's a poor design.  We kept ours open the entire time but it still blocked part of the ac vent. We were surprised that the swim outs only have one full length lounger.  Never seen that before and did not like it.  We both wanted to use it so had to take turns.  There was plenty of space for a second lounger.  Perhaps they're waiting for more to arrive....  The artist rendering shows two loungers in the pictures of the swim outs.  We always book a swim out because we read a lot and like privacy and a quiet environment.  We don't go to the other pools at all so we were very disappointed to only have one lounger. I had contacted the resort prior to booking to ask if there was a curtain or door or shutter to give privacy in the bathroom and I was told "yes", but this is not entirely true.  If you have a room with one king bed, the divider door has slats and you can absolutely see through them so there is no bathroom privacy.  If you have a room with two beds, then the divider door is solid.  If you are a person who prefers bathroom privacy then this resort is not for you unless you book two beds.  Even though the water closet door is frosted glass, you can see the person sitting on the toilet so it's not private at all.  It's also inconvenient to only have one hook in the bathroom to hang bath towels.  A second hook, and/or a towel bar, would be much appreciated.  Our bath towels were always damp.  We also did not have a clothing string in our shower, like some rooms have, to hang wet swimwear.  Perhaps they're working on installing them in every room....  We ended up draping our swimwear all around our bathtub since there was no other place to hang them.  Minor details but they do make a difference. Highly recommend the Silent Party !   Lots of people participated and everyone had a great time ! We are excited to see how this resort will grow/improve over the next year, especially once the spa and theatre are open for use. Thank you to all the staff for making our vacation fantastic !

Friendly Staff and The best Customer Service!

We had the best time on our trip!! Our waiter Martin and Sixto were the best and always had what we wanted when we needed it!! The bartender Demetrio, Carlos, Cruz, and Roberto were amazing as well and made us the best drinks. Our room was very clean and always put back together each day!! If we ever needed anything it was to our room in 5-10 minutes if not sooner. We used Amstar to travel to and from the airport and they were very nice and helpful on site of the resort!! The food was top amazing as well!

    One of the best!

This has been the best resort we’ve been to. Very relaxing. Even though parts of it haven’t been completely yet we had a wonderful time. We’d like to come back when the gym and spa are open. Bartenders, Roberto and Irving, at the beach bar were fantastic! And Gustavo took great care of us. The food was great and the room was beautiful! We kept forgetting we were in another country.

    Secrets Playa Blanca WOWS!!!!!

This amazing resort was impressive! Yes, while recently opened, there are still a few tweaks needed. However, that did in NO WAY deter from our experience whatsoever. First and foremost, the staff are INCREDIBLE! Every staff member goes above and beyond to ensure your complete satisfaction and comfort. Luis at Preferred Club check in was helpful and efficient. He introduced us to our AMAZING butler, Daniel. Daniel was attentive and ensured our happiness each and every day, and most days several times checking in on us and confirming there was nothing we needed. Daniel’s attention definitely impacted our stay at Playa Blanca and we are so fortunate to have had him assigned to us! Let me share how outstanding the pool concierge and servers were at the resort (PC club). Erick and Jose, along with the concierge staff (Abraham, Aramis (female), Celeste and Victor) literally “ran” to assist everyone at the pool. They were non-stop checking on us, providing fresh towels, and provided the same level of service to ALL! We did book a bali bed for our entire visit and it was well worth it! And Abraham gave us a delightful surprise to honor my birthday and our 35th anniversary with beautiful towel art he designed himself (see photo). I noticed he and Aramis did the same for other guests. This is just one thing that makes this place special! Now, the servers – how they manage the large number of drink orders and remember your drink (even if it changed) is beyond my imagination. Akemy, Seney, Angeles, Monse, Aramis (male), Jarib and all the others were just SUPERB!! Our breakfast, lunch and dinner experiences were just as outstanding. PC lounge servers/staff; Aramis (male), Seaside Grill (breakfast – Abel), (lunch - Eduardo and Alejandro Montes) and (dinner -Alex {Alejandro #2}, Samantha and Guillermo) were awesome. Portofino manager Oscar and server, Brian provided exceptional service. El Patio server Oscar was terrific. The Japanese restaurant opened just before we left, but we were not able to experience. And, unfortunately, Oceana was not yet open, but soon we were told. Two special dinners were superior highlights for us during our visit to the resort set up by Pamela, Victor and Oscar. Wine cellar dinner - again, Oscar made sure everything was just perfect! And, Ulises wine cellar server was stupendous as was the meal! The Tequila Cellar dinner with Victor, Andres and Chef Manuel (he created a special course for each of the tequila tastings and came out to personally introduce each course) and all of it was nothing short of marvelous! Other staff that were truly great, Francisca took great care of our Presidential Suite for us. The suite had amazing views!! Also, Edgardo “Eddie”, Eros and Gomez – PC building concierge were considerate and polite. PC supervisor, Samantha was helpful as well! Professional service throughout the resort by all – I cannot stress that enough!! The resort genuinely embodies nature and relaxation. It was thoughtfully laid out and we can’t wait to see how it blossoms and becomes more lush once everything starts to flourish. The water and fire elements bring a peaceful and warm feeling. The natural wood and soft tone fabrics tied in nicely. We did get a sneak peek at the jungle pool and that will be quite a treat once that is open. I will admit the walk to the beach was a bit rocky, but just be careful and you can traverse just fine. Virtually little to no seaweed, soft, white sand and the water was calm, most days, outside of some very windy times. One sidebar – I was embarrassed that during our visit we noticed several guests treating staff less than respectfully. Understand there are special areas at the resort that are exclusive for guests who pay for those services. Treating a staff member rudely and offensively, because he/she is merely explaining the tenets of rules pertaining to those areas is unnecessary. This was also witnessed, in general, at other times and other areas of the resort. It baffles me and hurts my heart for the staffer receiving this from a guest. These folks work EXTREMELY HARD and should be valued and treasured, not rebuked by ignorance!

Had an amazing time, service was amazing, food was great, amenities were great. Luis Duran was our personal concierge and was absolutely incredible. Cruz the bartender was awesome, same as Francisco at the pool. Everyone went above and beyond for us and even were gifted a couple things as it was our honeymoon.
