  Perfect Honeymoon Location!

  We had the most magical honeymoon at Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort! We stayed for 9 nights in a preferred overview junior suite. The room was very large and has a wonderful view of the sunrise on the balcony and a very large soaker tub on the balcony. It was on a very quiet stretch of the beach. Even though many areas of Cancun have a lot of sargassum right not, this resort removed it daily and it was still very enjoyable swimming in the ocean! We loved our time in preferred club, especially their pool area in the mornings. It was quiet and serene, and for most of the stay the pool area was staff by Axl. He told us he is pretty new to the resort, but he was one of the most welcoming and hospitable people I have ever met! Axl made sure all of our needs were met, while often stopping to chat with us about our experiences at the resort. Our experience would not have been 5 Stars without Axl! If you go to this resort, ask where he is working - you will want to meet him! We also really enjoyed KiKi Chi for breakfast in the morning. It made preferred club worth it for us. Made to order coffees, and delicious breakfast options as well as gorgeous views on the outdoor covered part of the restaurant were amazing! Luis worked there every morning and was a ray of sunshine! He greeted us with a smile from the first day we met him and treated us to luxury every morning! Our stay would not have been 5 stars without Luis! There are a few different Luis that work at the resort - this Luis has a silver tooth (if you eat at KiKi Chi you will likely meet him - he is amazing!). The preferred club bar was also a stop we made pre-dinner most nights. One of the bartenders we met names Andre was outstanding - the 3rd staff member who truly made our stay 5 stars. Andre also told us he was very new to the resort. We chatted with Andre every night he worked in the preferred club bar and he made us feel at home during our stay. He even introduced my husband to his new favourite drink: Andre’s take on a Mezcal old fashioned. He greeted us by name every time he say us, whether in the preferred club or elsewhere as he walked past. He is an exceptional staff member and person! Our room was cleaned daily as well as had turn down service in the evening. We liked having the fresh towels multiple times per day, especially when showering off from the beach so often! They also did a great job restocking snacks and beverages daily in the mini bar in the fridge. The food was great! Our favourites at Secrets were Ayara and Himitsu. At Ayara the pork belly and octopus as well as the steak mains were very memorable! At Himitsu, we loved the pork ramen, Mongolian beef, massan beef curry and the tempura ice cream! Our all-time favourite dessert of the trip was at El Patio - the Tres leches cake with horchata ice cream. There was more than once we went there after having dinner somewhere else just to get that dessert. For lunch, we loved Barefoot grill (especially the fish tacos) and Seaside Grill (their fish ceviche was delicious!). Although we didn’t go to Dreams (you get all inclusive access there too) very often, we did go to the French restaurant- L’Etoile. The French onion soup, short rib, beef tenderloin, and lobster crab crepe were absolutely outstanding - don’t miss this stop! Make sure you give yourself time though - the French onion soup takes about 25 minutes to prepare (it is 100% worth it!). The entertainment team was awesome! We really enjoyed a variety of activities such as archery, tequila tasting, hat painting, challenge of the day, pool volleyball, and aqua aerobics! The whole team has a way of bringing people together, eliciting laughter, and encouraging people To let loose and try new things! We enjoyed our time with them all for sure, especially Fernanda! Golf carts are used to bring guests from the Main pool and rooms to dinner restaurants. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes and the drivers are all very chatty and some of them are quite funny! We would recommend this resort to anyone looking to relax or for a romantic getaway. We aren’t big night-lifers, so didn’t care that there wasn’t a huge night-life scene. We enjoyed sunrises and 7am’s by the pool! We also liked that we could pre-order room service coffee for delivery at 7am, and it usually came around 6:40am - we would just write them asking not to knock and it would be there right when we wanted it before heading to the pool for the day! I’m our opinion Preferred was definitely worth it for this resort! You also have access to beach Bali beds which made beach days really comfortable! We hope to make it back to this resort again soon!

  Great atmosphere! It has been one of my favorite trips. I will definitely return. The food and service was wonderful. They treated us very well.

  Secrets Playa Mujeres 4Day Summer Getaway 2026

  Great all-inclusive resort. The rooms are well appointed and recently renovated, nice touch on the vanity / make up area in the bathroom. :). There was no extra stress on finding a pool lounger as there were plenty. The beach was pretty clean of sargassum when we arrived on our first full day which was a Sunday (8/23/26). We did notice on our last day on 8/25 (Tue), there was some sargassum which was being cleaned up by a tractor all day long. The experiences desk helped us book a Catamaran snorkeling and day trip to Isla Mujeres. The lady helped us make a decision on whether to go there by ferry or via the catamaran. She highly recommended the Premier VIP Catamaran trip which was A-plus. The vessel was in great condition and large enough for 20+ people on board - not as crowded as the other catamarans out there, which was a relief. We did not want a party boat.

  The Good, The Bad and The Shmugly

  Overall we had a good time. Our 1st night we went to Himitsu and the service was terrible. Waited 20 minutes to sit, when no one else was waiting and they were less than 1/3 full. Maru at the beach & pool bar was amazing! Sweet, nice, quick and efficient. Marcela at the preferred bar and desires was super nice and attentive! Luis in the restaurants was quite pleasant as well. He did some extra for my birthday at KiKIChe. Bryan the sales guy from the spa was annoying....kept finding us and asking when were going to the spa. The preferred pool didn't have towels on 2 occasions, which was puzzling/disappointing. 3 different days at the beach, we had terrible service....waited 45+ minutes for drinks, and one time when I asked where the drinks are, the guy said "I'm busy". No bro, more like understaffed. Food overall was pretty good, although the day we were leaving I woke up with major diarrhea which lasted 5 days after at home.
