Dec 10, 2024Amazing Resort, gorgeous beach and beautiful pools!
We loved our stay at this resort! Our room was fantastic and the housekeeping staff were meticulous with their daily cleaning and turndown service. All the pool and bar staff were great! A special thank-you to Jaime, Alejandro, Juan & Martha! We will definitely stay at this resort again!

Dec 10, 2024There are better Secrets resorts- but a good value for what it is. Just double check everything, get it in writing
Okay- we got spoiled and our only other Secrets experience was Secrets Akumal- where our daughter was married- there is NO comparison between the two- especially as far as service and communication Let me be clear- many of the staff and workers are amazing!! So helpful cheerful and the pool entertainment was fantastic. The band who had some equipment issues due to water being splashed on their equipment, was so talented and the crew who engaged us with games and exercises were awesome There is no building concierge- we never heard from the concierge at all- so not really sure where the shows or activities even were, unfortunately. The Ap is a bit confusing as is the one board by the pool. We were also with a corporate event so not lots of free time at night, so this was a bit on us, But having a concierge who we could ask questions and get a print out of the days activities and where they were- was much more helpful We wanted to watch the Big 10 championship game- there is no sports bar and when we were guided to the cavernous, impersonal Desires- there was just boxing on a couple of basic TVs with a few hard chairs- we went back to our room. We enjoyed the sit down restaurants we ate at- including Oceana, Portofino, and Bordeaux - Coco cafe has great coffee too The views from our room were stunning- but we forgot our damp rid- and wish we had not. Even in December- our clothes stayed damp the 3 days we were there. It was very windy when we were there so while we walked the gorgeous stretch of beach daily- the red flags were out- so not swimmable nor any activities available There is only one large pool with different sections- but it is very nice. Drinks were not the same caliber as at Akumal- but the bartenders are great and still lots of options If you eat at the buffets- we recommend getting your dishes cooked to order on the grill. Anytime we got items from the chafing dishes at buffet- they were cold and stale-chafing dishes often were not even being warmed and food was not replaced. Our company had a buffet event and we could not choke down the tasteless, cold food that was left, as we were some of the later diners- there was no table by table order, just a mass of 300 people all trying to get their food from just 2 stations- so went back to our room and ordered room service which was delicious Word- on room service- just call! We tried the Ap- and it bombed out- so I called to see if our order went through- was told there was no order for our room so placed again- only to have 2 orders delivered. There is a lack of communication here. Our biggest issue, was the resort's mishandling of our room check out dates. When we checked in, we made sure the correct date was for check out- as we were staying longer than our event, and had paid in full prior for the extra night. Yet on the app the date was wrong. We contacted the front - actually took the golf cart over, was told no- that was just a glitch and would be corrected. Well, the extra day comes and we get locked out of our room and told we cannot even get our things until we put hundreds on our credit card. We showed proof that we paid and explained that we made sure the dates were correct at check in. But nope- either we put the money on our credit card or we could not get our belongings or have access to our room. We were treated like we were trying to rip the resort off by the first team member - who told us we should have checked out at noon- and instead took advantage of the resort- and while a manager came over and was nicer about it- it was "hand over your credit card or else'- of course the next day they realized their mistake. We get an apology phone call- charges removed but that was it. So not exactly 5 star service by any means. This resort is a fraction of what Akumal pricing is- it is about to be renovated- we get it. This resort is a great value for what it is, but is not the 5 star Secrets resort you might expect. I know on some of the social media sites - there are posts stating this resort is the same or better than those that truly are 5 star- it is not. BUT- it the grounds are beautiful, the rooms are very nice, there are many team members who are just the best- but it is not consistent. Do not expect the same degree of service and avoid the buffet chafing dish options- fresh only.

Most Welcoming All Inclusive Experience
Our 10 days at Secrets Playa Mujeres were fabulous, thanks to the great accommodations, warm staff, and excellent food. We enjoyed our Preferred Breakfast at Oceana each morning, as well as lunches of fresh whole fried fish, and other entrees. It's just a short walk from the beach, and a view that can't be beat. We even had a couple dinners there. Danahe was a top notch hostess, very professional and personable, perhaps the best we have ever encountered. The entire staff provides excellent service- Lino, Santiago, Zorayda, Citlali, David, hope I didn't miss anyone. Dining at the Portifino was a perfect birthday dinner, we ate there most nights. Daniel is an exceptional Restaurant Manager, and oversees a fine staff, from the hostess, to all the waiters, especially Artemio. Others that provided special attention: Jose, Noemi, Gabino, helped made us feel special and welcomed. Martha, Jaime, and Alejandro were outstanding Beach and Pool Concierges. We were welcomed, checked in by the VIP UVC STAFF, Alex, Paola, and especially Oscar Torres. Also see Oscar to inquire about a UVC introduction if not a member. The beach is beautiful with chairs and Bali Beads. Also able to walk quite a ways on the beach. I'm not a pool person, but many were enjoying them. Between the quality of the food, accommodations, and especially the warm staff, we look forward to our return trip. I would be remiss to not point out how well the grounds are kept, even clearing water from walking areas during rain. Also, a fine golf course we did not play this visit. We visit many all inclusive resorts. This is by far a well run resort worth putting at the top of your list.

Great Staff, but dont go for the food.
Overall a nice experience. The resort is clean and feels safe. My company had a holiday party there. If I was paying for it, I'd be disappointed. The food was lackluster. If you are an alcoholic, you'll probably love the endless supply of drinks. I wish there was a focus on some other drinks though like Iced Tea you couldn't find anywhere. A lot of the food had a fishy taste, likely due to cooking contamination. Cook seafood on a separate grill or thoroughly clean it. Overall the staff was super pleasant, happy and attentive. I'd give them a 10+.

Relaxed couples trip in December 2024
Went the beginning of December 2024 with two couples for a 50th birthday party. The resort is very chill with no loud obnoxious people around the pool the entire 5 days of our trip. If you are looking for a loud party place this is not it. If you are looking for a relaxed vacation then this is for you. Some of the high points of the trip were the beautiful beach area with powdery white sand that went for miles. (due to high winds while we were there we only went in the ocean one day but had blast letting the waves knock us around) The staff was phenomenal at the resort as most Secrets resorts are. some individual shoutouts for making our trip extra special are: Francisco the bartender, Monse the server at the pool, Rubin in the buffet and Speed Gonzalez in the cart to the restaurants and lobby. Thank you to all the staff. The low points are very minimal and are being addressed by the resort. It is closing down April of 2025 to remodel so all issue with wear and tear will be taken care of then. Also one that is uncontrollable was the wind. Due to high winds it was difficult to sit at the pool at the end nearest to the ocean and it was chilly in the pools. Overall a great resort that will only be better next year after the remodel. One last note worth mentioning is there is no booze before 10am at any bar or even in the buffet area. That means no mimosa or bloody mary for breakfast. This is the first all inclusive that I have experienced this at. There are also no mixed shots at the bars. This may have led to the relaxed vibe of the resort and no party atmosphere. I am heading to Secrets Moxche in January and checked into that resort and the same rules apply. Not sure if it's a change in all Secrets properties over the last few months or just a chosen few.
