    Celebrating 43rd Wedding anniversary

We went for our 43 wedding anniversary. We had been here before and truly loved it. The renovations this time were beautiful. The Preferred Club was amazing. Overall the resort facilities were perfect. We got upgraded to a Master Suite which was very nice. There were some hiccups in requests that we made that never occurred but overall we had a lovely trip. The food was very good. The 8-course meal at KiKi Che was a wonderful experience. All wait staff were amazing (though I think limited in certain areas of the resort). On the whole, the noise level was fine. A few nights with later entertainment but not bad. Rooms were perfectly clean. Bed was comfortable; pillows not so much if you need a firmer pillow. Only 2 drawers for clothing. The beach was immaculate as were the resort grounds. You can tell just how hard their staff work to make sure your stay is a memorable one as well as the maintenance of the resort. We would go back.

Thinking of Secrets Playa Mujeres? You might want to reconsider.

We just stayed at Secrets Playa Mujeres for 5 nights. Post renovation. Our first day there, my wife and I, along with everyone we talked to at the resort, all took ice cold showers. No hot water anywhere to be found after their lengthy closing for a full renovation. This also happened again on our last day. What a way to send us all off happy right? If you like hot showers with any sort of water pressure at all, this would definitely not be the resort for you. Water pressure was horrible throughout our 5-day stay and you had to hug the wall of the beautiful newly renovated shower just to get through it. Sad. If you book, fully pay for, and expect and prefer an “Ocean View” room, this may not be the resort for you, unless you’re prepared to crank your neck and hang off your balcony to catch a glimpse of the ocean. I’m not sure what a “Partial Ocean View” room looks like compared to our full “Ocean View” but I’m confident based on what we received, you won’t be seeing ANY part of the ocean from your room. See attached “Ocean View” booked room. Nothing like the website. If you like a resort where the management staff go out of their way to ensure you’re pampered and well taken care of, this definitely is not the place for you. We had a large group of friends and family and I can assure you that concierge staff and management didn’t hesitate to say “NO” to any normal sort of request all other all-inclusive resorts would promptly reply with “Absolutely. We’d be happy to accommodate that request”. I will point out that the everyday wait staff around the pool, swim up bar, and restaurants were all amazing and did their jobs with pride and happiness. Not sure why that seems so impossible for their bosses. Good luck if you’re thinking you’re booking an exciting laid back and relaxed tropical vacation at an amazing resort. This one wildly misses the mark at just about every turn.

Not the best, but not the worst.

The preferred club is well worth the expense, but not the ocean view or swim out suites. We have always paid the extra for those and usually been very happy with them, not the case here. Swim outs are tiny and not well kept. No sun exposure and no loungers, only chairs. The food here is really great. No one could say they had a terrible experience with that and mean it. Service is fantastic at most bars and restaurants. (although the dinners did take up to two hours to be served) The beach was good except for the burrs that were hidden in the sand and became lodged in your feet when walking though to your loungers. (maybe rake that or at least post a sign) Noise level of the room service carts is insane! It's like they have no idea that rubber wheels would really cut down on that. All hours of the day and night, rolling through like freight trains with plates and glasses all clinking like crazy. If you are considering this resort, think twice at the price you can go to the other secrets resort for. This is a nice place, but not worth the upgrades.

Avoid the top floors where the balconies have a plastic panel roof.

The resort is beautiful and the people were very accommodating. We had a top floor room with a plastic balcony roof. It became loose above the slider door in the wind and kept us up all night. I reported it but response was very slow. I went to Fernando who they said was the manager. That was an aggravation. He didn’t respond in any helpful way. We had not slept all night and he offered nothing. We went to Monse, our savior, she arranged another room for us to get some rest but it was 4 pm by then and we lost a whole day. If it had not been for her it would have been no fun. We understand that nobody can stop the wind but the plastic panels are not adequate and they need to change to something more durable. There were several other panel failures. My wife called the repairman a roof ninja !

Fantastic job UVC and Hyatt with updating the property, and providing a positive experience for your guests!

My husband and I returned to Playa Mujeres from January 20–27, 2026, this time bringing some friends along. It has been one of our favorite destinations in the Unlimited Vacation Club since 2013 and now part of Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection Portfolio. Knowing the resort had recently reopened after many months of work, we were eager to see the updates—and they did not disappoint. The biggest change was the addition of the preferred club area check-in, lounge, and pool area! Coming back truly feels like coming home. It was wonderful to be welcomed so warmly and to see some of the staff we now consider friends from our past visits, as well as the new ones we made this time which I would like to highlight. One of our favorite people we saw multiple times during our visit ( on purpose) was Zorayda, a waitress at Preferred breakfast, along with Oceana lunch. Zorayda’s smile alone can make your day, and her sincere, serving heart truly shows through her actions. Cowboy hats off to Manager Sonya, who we saw throughout the resort at Preferred breakfast, El Patio, and Oceana. She is attentive to guests and clearly supportive of her team, even during busy times. Other Preferred Club team members we would like to mention by name include: • Delmi, waitress • Felipe, bartender • Marcela, waitress • Edher at the Preferred pool • Jamie at the Preferred Club pool and beach. A couple of mornings at the Market Cafe set us up for another grand day with Felipe as our waiter, and wow the skills of the harp Player! Carlos, the chef at El Patio, also deserves recognition for his excellent cooking—especially the short ribs, which were outstanding. Artemio is wonderful! We had the opportunity to have him as a waiter twice up at Portifino. The 2nd time the restaurant was very crowded and busy and it was still the same consistent helpful service with a smile. It was great to see familiar faces, receive such attentive assistance, and experience once again the genuine hospitality that keeps us returning to Playa Mujeres year after year. Our friends who came with us thoroughly enjoyed their time and talked about the delicious food and outstanding service. You are doing a fantastic job UVC and Hyatt with updating the property, and providing a positive experience for your guests!
