Feb 13, 2026Decent resort, nothing special, mediocre beach
Decent resort, friendly helpful staff, mediocre food. Stayed here 6 nights. If you book this place know that ocean view is not necessarily with a view. Ocean front is a higher price category. Booked a couples massage with hydrotherapy session. The staff was very rigid about using the steam room, jetted pool stations, hot tub and sauna in a timed order that they guided. It was very uncomfortable. I have never been to a spa where they watched you and ordered you around to the next station. The massage was very good. The food is just okay. Buffet has a nice selection. The deserts are attractive but not very flavorful. The preferred club upgrade is nice but the “butler” service is a little overrated. It does get you access to dinner reservations at the speciality restaurants. The beach is narrow with a floating barrier 20 yard off shore to keep out the seaweed which it does not. The drinks that are made with mixers have artificial sweeteners instead of plain old sugar giving them an odd taste. There is no sign by the pool requesting lounge hogs not to put their towels out at 7am and not show up till 11 am. Have been to 15 Mexican Caribbean resort and this is at the bottom of my list.

A few tweaks would have made this an Excellent experience
The hotel, food, entertainment, and other amenities were excellent. The customer experience was not, primarily due to staff responsiveness and attentiveness . We reported an issue with a noise in our room on our 2nd night of a 7 night stay. We were told the noise would be addressed, but it was not. We reported the same issue two more times after we identified the noise was coming from a faulty swim-up pool jet pump. We were told the issue would be addressed; it was not. After we reported it a 4th time, we were told nothing could be done. So the solution was no solution. On another note, the staff were not always attentive. They said the right things, but were often not listening to our responses. It was not a language issue, but rather a simple case of not listening or being attentive.

Overall we had an excellent stay and experience at Secrets Riviera. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Room was very clean and we enjoyed the food as well as the atmosphere. The Super Bowl celebration was excellent!

Can't wait to return!
The Mrs and I vacationed at Breathless in 2025 and decided to upgrade to Secrets for 2026. Good call. My experience far exceeded expectation. The staff, from top to bottom, was warm, friendly and very professional. Though all staff deserves praise, I feel the need to mention certain staff by name. Thank you to Daniel and Julio for the fine butler service and assisting us in extending our stay. Thank you to Mario and Daniel poolside for attentive service that was truly next level. It was clear to me that our enjoyment was genuinely important with needs being anticipated and acted on. Thank you to Louis for being Louis. Thank you to Angel and Manny for drawing us into the fun. Thank you to the entire staff of Roosewater. The warmth we received each time we dined was heartfelt and is reciprocated. We met some wonderful people and made lasting friendships. We are already planning our return.

The trip was okay. I will not be visiting this resort again in the future.
Overall the resort was clean and safe. The beach was not very nice at this time of year, moss was cleaned up 1-2 x a day.

Hotel Spring Break Policy - Student Groups (Spring Breakers) are not permitted at Hotel. student group consist of those that travel without parent supervision or a responsible adult in each room. This could refer to but not limited to high school students or college students booking multiple rooms. The hotel reserves the right to deny lodging to any reservations of this type.
Transfer Policy - A price may display when children stay free, if your vacation includes transfer to your hotel.
