Secrets Sunny Beach – Stunning Views, Lots of Laughs and an Unforgettable Holiday!

Secrets Sunny Beach – Stunning Views, Lots of Laughs and an Unforgettable Holiday! We spent two weeks at Secrets Sunny Beach in August and had the most amazing holiday! THE HOTEL AND THE VIEWS The hotel itself is beautiful, and one of the best things is that every room has the most stunning sea view. We were lucky enough to be on the 7th floor, and the view was quite simply beyond words. Waking up to that beautiful view of the sea every morning was something really special. Another wonderful feature of the hotel is the glass corridor on every floor, with a continuous glass wall overlooking the mountains on the other side. The scenery is incredible, and it’s such a lovely experience for guests throughout the hotel. Even walking to and from your room gives you another beautiful view to enjoy. The infinity pools were absolutely stunning, with beautiful views all around. The only slight downside was that the water was a little cold, but that certainly didn’t take away from how gorgeous the pools were. FOOD AND ACTIVITIES The food was good, with a selection of hot and cold dishes every day. There was plenty of choice, along with different juices, a variety of milks and even Prosecco, which was a lovely touch. There were also plenty of activities to get involved in. My husband played most of the games on offer, including darts, archery, French boules and shuffleboard. I joined in with shuffleboard and tried French boules and archery for the first time. Somehow, I managed to win the archery by a HUGE margin the very first (and only!) time I played! I think I’ll be retiring from archery while I’m still at the top! THE ENTERTAINMENT TEAM – THE REAL STARS OF THE HOLIDAY! What really made our holiday was the entertainment team! They are all so young, but honestly, they were absolutely hilarious! A special mention has to go to Ventsi, the lead entertainer, and his second-in-command, Krisi. Those two bounced off each other brilliantly, and their personalities and sense of humour made them such a joy to watch. They brought so much fun and laughter to our holiday and made our two weeks even more memorable. Kati also deserves a mention. Thank you for being part of the team and helping make our stay special! Ventsi, Krisi and Kati, thank you for the memories. You certainly helped make our holiday one to remember! THE LOCATION The location is fantastic. The hotel is just a stone’s throw from the strip, making it easy to get out and about, but far enough away that you can escape the noise when you want to relax. There’s also a bus stop right outside the hotel, and you can reach the beautiful historic town of Nessebar in around 30 minutes. Nessebar is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is well worth a visit. THE PEOPLE AND THE MEMORIES We were lucky enough to meet some truly wonderful people during our stay who made our holiday even more special. We shared so many laughs, made amazing memories and formed connections that made saying goodbye so difficult. Some people even made a point of coming to find us and say goodbye on our last night, despite having other things to do. That really touched us and meant more than they probably realised. It’s such a lovely feeling when people you’ve only known for a short time leave such a lasting impression on you. We came away with amazing memories, but also that little bit of sadness that comes with leaving people you wish you’d had more time with. It’s amazing how a holiday can bring people together, and these are the moments that stay with you long after you’ve returned home. OVERALL We had the most amazing two weeks at Secrets Sunny Beach. The beautiful hotel, breathtaking views, lovely pools, good food, great location and fantastic activities all helped make it a wonderful holiday. But above all, it was the entertainment team and the wonderful people we met who made it truly unforgettable. We returned home with smiles on our faces, memories we’ll treasure, and that lovely feeling of having experienced something special. Already, we’re left wishing we could turn back the clock and do it all over again! Thank you, Secrets Sunny Beach, for such a fantastic holiday. We would absolutely love to return!

    Would not return...

We have just got back from staying here for 1 week at the end of September. Unfortunately, I would not rate this hotel as 5 star. As a travel agent and reading the reviews before I was very excited, sadly it was not the trip we had hoped for. Let start with the pros: - Spacious rooms, super cosy and comfortable beds, large balcony - Beautiful hotel grounds and outlook with beach - 24/7 bar for those who drink a lot - Good variety of food - Modern hotel Cons: - Out of season, not advertised that everything was going to be shut down so we would be cooped up in the hotel and couldn't even go to explore anywhere as everything was closed. Nothing to do on poor weather days everyone was sat in the foyer reading books. - Freezing cold pools - about 1% of the hotel capacity were brave enough to enter (indoors wasn't even that warm). The hygiene around the outdoor pool's were also a concern. Seagulls were constantly in the pool and surrounding areas and would leave droppings in the water, which didn’t feel hygienic or inviting even if they were warmer. Sun loungers were not very comfortable at all. Noticed they had lounger cushions stored away (these were never brought out, would have made it more 5 star if they were) - Ran out of ingredients for cocktails (strawberry daiquiri's without strawberry puree on the last 2 days of our trip so tasted like water) - Hotel did not provide oat milk therefore went and brought my own from a local shop for 4euro which the bar staff said they would keep for me only to go back the next morning to find it had a drop left and they had been serving it to other customers. The staff were not bothered by this. - Poor reception staff - escalated concerns that the housekeeping staff were constantly smoking on our floors balcony's having a social gathering every day and even woke up to the smell of smoke on several occasions, for non-smokers this was a horrible experience. Escalated twice to reception staff and just brushed off and nothing changed the whole week we were there. - Hotel food flavour's were nice but was never hot especially the meats, were either luke warm or cold 95% of the time... myself and my partner ended up with bad stomachs on our second day spending the whole time in our room. We are putting this down to food as it was our first time eating luke warm meat that did not taste right (again escalated to reception who weren't bothered). My partner had raw chicken one day. - Evening entertainment was very poor, not variable and not entertaining. - Some staff need to put a smile on their face as for customer facing role, there were some people we didn't see smile all week making you feel more like a burden than a guest. All I can say is we will not be coming back and very disappointed with what was meant to be a lovely week away.

    Pleasantly Surprised

Fancied a trip to a new country & somewhere different & saw this hotel with Jet2. Read the reviews, looked at the website etc & took the plunge. We were not disappointed, staff were very good, quality of food & drink was also very good, although food could be hotter & a couple of microwaves in the buffet restaurant would be a bonus! The hotel was clean, modern & our room (junior suite) was very nice. The bed was enormous & very comfortable indeed. Bathroom nicely appointed, huge walk in shower & plenty of toiletries so no need to pack those unless you are really picky about what you use. Not much to do & see outside of the hotel apart from shopping or a trip to nearby Nessebar which is definitely worth a visit. Although I will say we were right at the end of the season & lots of hotels were already closed as were some of the attractions. Hotel has its own private beach as well as a few pools, both indoor & out, sadly the pools outdoors were freezing & the weather not hot enough to tempt me! On one of the bad weather days we booked a Turkish treatment at the spa. The treatment/massage etc was lovely & relaxing, sadly we found that when we went to pay the treatments they gave us were not what we picked/booked & instead of €160 they gave us a bill for €250. We argued this but our Bulgarian is not great & their grasp of English seemed to have deteriorated since we booked! Anyway, if you book any treatments I would advise you double check before you undergo any treatments, seemed like an end of season markup scam & we settled with them after a negotiation! The lifts are also a bit of a lottery, the hotel seriously need to look at sorting these, one always seemed to be out of service & at busy times it was a real lift lottery! These were really the only bad points all week & we did not let it spoil a really chilled & relaxing holiday. Indeed I would happily return, but not so late in the season.

A Beautiful Hotel Ruined by Poor Service, Cold Food and Boredom

On arrival, the hotel is absolutely beautiful. We arrived on the 30th and stayed for 5 nights. The views are lovely, the reception area looks great and the pools are beautiful. Unfortunately, that’s where a lot of the positives ended for us. If you are coming towards the end of the season, I really feel the hotel should have at least one heated outdoor pool. Even the indoor pool wasn’t heated, which meant that with the colder weather there was basically no pool we could comfortably use. From a customer service point of view, our experience was really disappointing. The staff often looked genuinely unimpressed and would walk past you in the restaurant when it was obvious that drinks needed to be brought out or refilled. We would regularly have to put our hands up or try to get someone’s attention just to get a drink. The reception bar was really the only place where we felt we received decent service. Once you went up to the bar, you were served straight away. The food in the main restaurant was probably the biggest disappointment. We couldn’t get into any of the à la carte restaurants during our entire 5-night stay. Every time we asked, we were simply told they were fully booked. There was never any attempt to explain if there was another day we could go or offer us an alternative. The food in the main restaurant was mediocre at best and, more importantly, it was consistently cold. We actually started going down at exactly 12pm for lunch and 6pm for dinner, hoping that being there right when the restaurant opened would mean the food would be hot. Unfortunately, even then, a lot of it was still cold. There also wasn’t a huge amount of choice and many of the same dishes appeared at both lunch and dinner. A lot of the food was also extremely salty. We did speak to Guest Relations about the lack of service and the way we felt we were being treated. We explained that it genuinely felt like we were being ignored by a lot of the staff. We were told that the staff were probably just tired. I completely understand that people get tired, especially towards the end of a season. We weren’t expecting anyone to act like a robot or go above and beyond, but basic customer service should still be there. After we complained, the service that evening was better, but unfortunately by the next day it was back to how it had been before. Another major issue for us was the lack of things to do. The hotel was extremely boring. There were barely any activities. As far as we could see, there was beach volleyball at around 4pm and then a live singer in the evening, which was more like a karaoke session and unfortunately wasn’t very good. With none of the pools being heated, it was too cold to spend time in them, so we found ourselves with very little to do during the day. We would often just sit around reception. We spoke to several other guests who felt exactly the same way and said the hotel was incredibly boring. For a hotel of this size and standard, I really think there should be more recreational facilities. There was no games room, no pool table, no table tennis and very little entertainment or activities throughout the day. Overall, the hotel is beautiful and has so much potential, but for us it fell short in too many important areas. The views and the building itself are lovely, but a beautiful hotel isn’t enough when the service, food, entertainment and overall experience aren’t up to the same standard. Unfortunately, we would not return to this hotel. We really wanted to love it, but after 5 nights we left feeling disappointed.

Good location, hotel nice although rooms more like 4 star and pool very cold.

Good location, only a few steps to the beach with handful of hotel sun loungers on the beach. Just a ten minute walk into start of Sunny beach bars and shops. Bus stop outside hotel (No 5) for just 2 euros takes you all the way to Nessebar, can be crowded but do run every 20 minutes however you can also get a taxi for 20 euros if prefer. Eating areas can be quite noisy what with all the chairs constantly being scrapped along the floor and plates and cutlery being offloaded to trolleys. Also the umbrellas for the sunbeds have a metal chain which should have a peg attached it to put the umbrellas up however quite a few pegs have come apart from the chain so when the wind gets up around 1pm the chains are constantly clanging against the umbrella pole which gets irritating quite quickly, these really do need repairing or replacing. Plenty of sunbeds mind and nice and relaxing in the morning lying on them before gets windy. Plenty of food to choice from and good selection most days, could do with being a bit warmer mind and only one toaster for the whole hotel, could definitely do with having two to three toasters available and also another hot drinks dispenser only two creating big ques. Point of note most of the staff didn't seem to understand what a pot of tea was also hot drinks always came without milk, had to ask every time for milk with coffee/tea. Room was clean and tidy, although was surprised in a thirteen story building if you book a double deluxe room this only means you will have room on the first floor only, which consists of a view of rows of solar panels only, also if you are in rooms 100-106 you have the sound of the main road to deal with when on your balcony. Did ask to move up a few floors but got told would have to wait a few days and also pay over 100 euros. Also if you are on the first floor you dont get the option for having late room check out unless your prepaid to pay a further 60 euros even if its just for an extra hour. They do provide locked bagging area and you can still use the hotel showers in the hotel toilet area. Room nice and spacious although didnt get on with the pillows resulting in strained neck pains on my return also the constant sound of running water from the bathroom is quite disturbing, not sure why but no door leading into the bathroom. The plug hole didn't work had to constantly keep tap running to have a wash and the towels and toilet paper were quite rough. The hotel bar and cafe was open twenty four hours and always served quickly. The "nightclub" had entertainment nightly however the room did not open till 8pm and the entertainment started at 930pm mainly for 45-60 minutes of which it was just music played till midnight. Overall was a break away with beautiful scenery in a good location. hotel kept clean and tidy but didnt find relaxing and would say this is more likely a four start hotel.
