    Very nice resort.

Very nice resort. Not crowded at all. Employees always available to assist with anything. Very nice choice of restaurants.

Nice Stay, with a few hiccups.

TLDR: Nice resort, not a 5 star, poor pool service/cleanliness at the regular pools, lovely staff and good food but not fine dining. Room: lovely room, very spacious. Hot water was spotty and took quite some time. Housekeeping was inconsistent and never did the same thing twice. Often left without towels, and frequently had to request room service. Had turn down three times in 8 nights - each time was different. One night there were chocolates, one night there were water bottles, one night nothing. Pools: This is my biggest disappointment. Two pools are wading pools, 4ft at most. THERE IS NO SWIM UP BAR. This is misleading on the website as the bar is fully above water, no seating at the knee-high wading pool. The sky pool is also barely waist hight. The pools had almost no service except at the preferred pool. That was the best experience by far. Our expectations for pool service were beyond disappointed at the regular pools. We got almost every drink our entire stay and were shocked at the service when compared to other secrets/dreams resorts. Also there are no hot tubs and the pools get pretty dirty daily. Lots of bugs and foliage (however it is in a jungle). Beach: 15 minute drive is not bad, you do get put into what appears to be an all-terrain cattle transport. Not for those with any mobility issues. The beach itself is lovely and the only other place where service was good. They are clearly on a septic system and wow the smell was overwhelming at times. The beach itself was stunning and I would go back just for the beach and ocean. Food: Pretty good, we had a very poor final night but that is likely because there were lots of people. Its not fine dining but we had a good time. Staff: The reason we keep coming back! Everyone was kind, lovely, and helpful. Reyes was the highlight of our trip and he was phenomenal!! BUGS! Lots of bugs, bring spray and plan accordingly.

    Would not recommend this resort.

The rooms were large in size with a comfortable bed, lovely bathroom and amenities. The phone in our room did not work, but the a/c was wonderful. The food in general was not very good at all. We waited over an hour at Olio and were served cold appetizers. We left and went to BlueWater and were told they were out of all steaks. Thankfully, we had preferred club so we finally went over to the Grotto and were able to get a pizza. The hotel location, for us, was a big negative. Having to take the shuttle to the beach took away from the whole experience. The workers were all really nice with a special shout-out to Alejandro at BlueWater. The management was less so. We never got our paid for concierge, we did however get an email from the concierge group asking us to review them with all 10's so they could keep their job.

    Bucket List Experience

We had the BEST time at Secrets Tulum. We wanted to experience the authentic Tulum beach environment, but we also wanted to be able to stay in a luxury resort with all the amenities that provides. This location was the best of both worlds for us - it allowed us to enjoy the high energy beach environment OR the quiet, romantic relaxation of the resort. The resort is beautifully designed and absolutely meshes well with the history and vibe of the Tulum jungle. The beach club is elegant and fun. We had a room with a swim out and we made use of it every morning when the sun was hot. The entire resort is clean, and well maintained. We didn't have a single meal we didn't like, but there were some service experiences that stood out more than others. Jesus at check in was so helpful. He took our bags to our room for us, going above and beyond his normal duties, and even went so far as to give us the tour of the room and explain things like how to use the safe and making sure the swim up door was locked. Our first evening on the property, we wandered around getting the a feel for the layout (it's a bit confusing at first but if you take the time to figure it out, it is VERY easy to navigate). We stopped in at the Grotto to see what it looked like, and Javi gave us a tour, talked about their menu options and the pool service, and then even took us to find Bluewater Grill and explained some things about Mayan history and the trees. Portofino has wonderful Italian food, and our server Russel was fantastic. We initially ate breakfast at the Market Cafe, and then decided we preferred the breakfast at Jasmine. Alan there was FANTASTIC and so are the omelets. We had dinner at Bluewater Grill - the ambiance is a MUST! - and Oscar was attentive and helped with our selections when we had questions. Our favorite dinner spot by far was Jasmine. Isaac took excellent care of us, the food was plated so well and the quality was out of this world! Our favorite lunch spot at the resort was the Grotto. Sergio made sure our drinks were filled and our food was brought out timely. We also had lunch at Willy's place. There's a bit of a wait there, but another server there, also named Sergio, recognized us after a few days and did his best to take care of us when the kitchen was slow. We had lunch one day at Barefoot Grill. It's great for fast, easy snacks when you're at the pool. Edwin made sure we were in and out in a timely fashion. We spent an afternoon at the spa doing the hydrotherapy circuit. Eugenia was a fantastic, funny attendant. She thoroughly explained the process and did a great job of mixing presence with allowing us to be alone. Hands down, if someone were going to Tulum, this is the place I'd recommend they stay!

Beautiful Resort, Amazing Staff, A Few Missteps

My wife and I were here for 5 days for a destination wedding. The resort is beautiful and is an interesting layout of round stone architecture’s contemporary structures amidst a tropical jungle beach vibe throughout as the resort is not on the ocean. There are different levels; lots of stairs everywhere. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. The staff, in one word, are amazing. Friendly, helpful and accommodating. The buffet restaurant was beautiful and spacious. We ate breakfast there daily and there way plenty of choices. Fresh made omelets were great. Tons of fruit, baked goods, and many other choices. We ate at a poolside grill for lunch which served great burgers and specialty pizzas and other items. Staff were always available to provide drinks from the adjacent bar. There were multiple pools at the resort. The entertainment staff were engaging and did a great job. There were 3 restaurants for dinner plus the poolside grill which had a different menu at dinner of Mexican options. The main choices were an Italian restaurant that served very good, well-presented food. Service was excellent. A Mediterranean restaurant was very nice; the food was very good; service was excellent. The last was an outdoor, jungle-like steak restaurant, which was very visually stunning. Unfortunately, there were a few different choices of steak that were thin, skimpy and a little fatty. At the Mediterranean restaurant, I had ordered a filet mignon that was a good size and had a great sauce on the plate. The wedding itself was all outside on the expansive top level. The gazebo area was beautiful and the cocktail and dinner/dance area were very nice. Steak was on the menu and was below par. The other issue was that with all the stairs, both wood and concrete and all the levels,it was easy to trip and fall all over. I fell the first day and several other guests attending did as well. Overall, the resort was nice and the staff was terrific. The food was mostly very good, but the steak restaurant fell short.
