Warm welcome, thoughtful amenities and comfortable rooms

This was our second stay at the St John Inn. Before leaving today, we booked our next stay. That says it all. We very much enjoy the laid back vibe at the St John Inn and also very much appreciate the hospitality: Free parking, free use of beach chairs and coolers, rum punch every evening , comfortable rooms with ac and great conversation. The Inn is a short walk from the center of Cruz Bay and Mongoose Junction - a perfect location. Also a quick walk to coffee shops and two grocery stores. Dave and Karen - thanks for being such great hosts. See you in March.

    Not fancy but very homey

Wonderful stay at the St John Inn. Comfortable, clean and quiet rooms with a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Not fancy but staff were super friendly and happy to help with anything you need. We rented a jeep and explored the island's beaches every day so didn't feel the need to spend extra money on a fancy hotel. Great location, easy walk to restaurants and bars. Thanks, Michael, for being such a nice host!

Excellent location, laid back vibe and superb staff.

Location is a short (ten minutes) walk from the ferry, Cruz Bay bars and restaurants and less than 15 minutes from Mongoose Junction. The property is well maintained, comfortable and well managed by a friendly and helpful crew. We appreciated the availability of early morning coffee, the breakfast (English muffins, waffles, bagels, pb&j, juice, apples) and the rum punch in the afternoons. There’s a grocery store and deli a three minute walk away if you need more. We also appreciated the complimentary use of beach chairs, beach towels, cooler bags and snorkel equipment. St John is expensive. The St John Inn is relatively affordable. It is not a resort and if you’re looking for a luxurious setting, this is not for you. We, however, were very happy here and will return.

    Great experience…

The manager Marayah went above and beyond to make are stay at St John Inn fantastic, She was super sweet and very welcoming. The rooms were very clean and roomy ( Thanks to Kate, whom is also very sweet and goes above and beyond) . I would recommend staying at St. John Inn. They also have a yummy continental breakfast every morning. Marayah also spent time with us , talking about the best beaches to visit, also the best restaurants to eat at. Thanks Marayah for everything you did for us. We will definitely book again with you.

More like a Hostel than an Inn

To be fair, this is a Two-Star Hotel and half the price of most places on SJI, so you get what you pay for. Employees were wonderful and helpful. Even so, this property is in pretty bad disrepair. It's at about hostel accommodation level. Room was dirty, broken toilet seat, *very* old/lumpy mattress, shower that sprayed all over bathroom (cheap wrong size curtain), peeling doors, mold on air conditioner vents, and a pair of dirty socks (not ours!) beneath the dresser. Also, the property is not exactly in a scenic location. Construction right in front, an abandoned building behind, and trash pretty much all over. In general, Cruz Bay looks pretty rough with many abandoned buildings, some of which are being used as dumps, broken and nonexistent sidewalks, litter, and poor roads. Maybe still recovering from hurricanes? For an island that generates over $2 billion a year in tourism, we were surprised by the lack of repair and overall poor quality.
