  Our Recent Stay

  The hotels location is perfect, even though located on the south coast, its rocks placed infront of the beach allow for calm waters. The beach had some seaweed on due to previous bad weather before we arrived but the day after there was staff immediately cleaning it up through the day, which stayed cleaned for our full stay. Around the corner from the hotel is pebbles beach which connects onto Carlisle bay which is only a 5 minutes walk outside the hotel, which is perfectly safe. We managed to see several turtle hatches on the hotel beach, it was good to help rescue and collect them. The hotel worked closely with the turtle sanctuary’s who would come collect them to release at a safer time, which is great to see. Our room was clean and modern with plenty of space. The room was serviced nearly every day apart from the times we placed do not disturb on the door. It was well air conditioned and had a good view of the monkeys in the garden area. Food was good. I’m a coeliac so required gluten free food which was available. The morning had a separate cabinet with bread, biscuits and muffins in. The food in the buffet was sometimes labeled if gluten free too. There was gluten free pancakes available every morning or omelettes. We managed to use the other 2 restaurants 2 out of 3 times. Unfortunately we tried to book the steakhouse for Sunday to find it was closed and booked for Monday instead, only to receive a text saying it was closed and my booking was cancelled. It wasn’t really mentioned anywhere about their opening times so it’s worth keeping it in mind for anyone on their future visit. The shack in my the corner of the beach is a great daytime restaurant if you want a quick lunch. Staff and everyone on the island is so friendly, speaking every day when passing. They go above and beyond to help the guests. The staff on the beach would come place umbrellas where you were, and the bar staff would come around placing drinks orders (on a the beach and the pool). The pool was clean, and the sun loungers were plenty of. The staff would come around with extra towels through the day to cover the beds completely as the heat can be quite through some points of the day. There’s not many places I go to and would want to rush to go back as there’s plenty of the world to see, but this hotel and Barbados could be one. I would 100% recommend.

  Best hotel in Barbados!

  I was recommended Sugar Bay by a colleague who visited Sugar Bay earlier this year, saying it was one of the best hotels in the Caribbean he’d ever been to… I couldn’t agree more! Upon arrival we were greeted by friendly staff who offered us a rum punch and checked us in quickly, before showing us to our room. The bedroom and bathroom were modern, spacious and well-air conditioned. We asked if our double bed could be changed into twin beds and the friendly housekeeping team were at our door within five minutes to sort it out. They were very happy to help. Although the pool was great, we chose to spend every day on the beach. Shortly after arriving at the beach, a member of the team would come over to provide us with a beach umbrella, with other members of staff coming over to offer us drinks from the bar throughout the day. The beach itself is a decent size, and a wall of rocks creates a warm, calm sea, a bit like a lagoon. This definitely sets it apart from other beaches on the south coast. It might simply be due to the location of the beach but we found there were less vendors trying to sell us things than on other beaches on Barbados, which made for a more relaxing experience. I cannot emphasise enough how fantastic the food at the Reef restaurant is, in fact it was so good that we never felt the need to try either of the other restaurants available to us. Unlike other all-inclusives we have stayed at, there was plenty of variety and no dishes were repeated during our week-long stay. All food is seasoned to perfection, and there is always a carvery station serving a different piece of meat every evening. The meat was always juicy and tender, and the steak in particular was cooked to perfection… the best I’ve ever had. Wherever we went at the hotel, all staff, from housekeeping to bar staff, were consistently friendly, welcoming and helpful. I was especially touched when Kathy-Ann and Samantha went above and beyond to organise for us to have flying fish at the restaurant on our last day. We really wanted to try it before heading home, so for them to take the time to organise this for us was a lovely personal touch. Having visited Barbados four times now, all at all-inclusive hotels, I can honestly say that this was by far the best. The hotel’s smaller, friendlier approach makes a huge difference. Every member of staff we met went above and beyond to make our stay as enjoyable as possible, with Kathy-Ann and Samantha deserving a special mention. We would absolutely stay at Sugar Bay again and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Barbados!

  Highly recommend

  We have stayed here many times and already looking forward to returning in 2027. Food is excellent and the staff is top notch. It’s always a great experience.

  Wonderful beautiful hotel

  Where do i start.....lovely hotel. Amazing chefs 100 % wonderful. I want to thank everyone for their kind and thoughtful care. Shout out to everyone you are all amazing.   Disappointed

  I chose Sugar Bay for my honeymoon and I was very disappointed in the service that I received. I did a lot of research regarding this Resort prior to booking to ensure that I would have the perfect honeymoon experience. When I arrived, the room that I was given was a ground floor, and I requested a higher level and was told that there was nothing available even on later day. After getting my room, I napped after traveling all day and was interrupted by loud construction over my room. At that time I started suspecting that my AC was not working and prior to going to dinner, I spoke to front desk regarding the issue. I returned to my room after dinner and the AC was still the same. It was super hot that night. Very uncomfortable. The next morning prior to breakfast I went back to the front desk and asked them about my AC again and was told that Maintainance would stop by. After Maintainance visited it was found on my AC was not working and I was getting moved to another room which was strange because I was told there was another other rooms the night prior. I got moved to a second floor room which I didn’t get until close to 4 pm the following day. The room overall was flawed. There was no security chain or lock on the door and the bathroom doors did not close properly. Regardless, I was happy to have some AC. Throughout my stay, I felt like majority of the staff were not very friendly. In addition, there were times where the buffet ran out of plates and it would take at least 10 to 15 minutes to restock and which even then it would be 3 to 4 plates at a time. Half of the games in the game room does not work, which was another amenity I booked for. Overall, this was not worth close to the money that I paid for this trip. I wish I used that money and booked at a different resort. The pro of this resort was that the food was good and an employee named Javon was very hospitable and tried very hard to make us comfortable. I would not revisit nor recommend.
