  Sugar Cane Club Hotel & Spa

  After a 1 hr 10 min drive from the Airport, Initially happy with hotel and room on arrival date of Monday 21st September, However, there was pre arranged construction work due directly outside my room which commenced the 2nd day of my holiday. and was informed that it would continue until Friday 25th. Made a complaint, was then moved to a smaller room on the property which was very upsetting. There are no facilities or shops around, very remote and unless you can drive and hire a car , you rely on the free shuttle which leaves at specified times or you have to pay for a taxi. If you want seclusion this is the perfect place. I would definitely not recommend if as a 1st time solo visitor to Barbados, probably good if you are going as a couple who want lots of quiet and am happy with very few places - although nice and expensive- to eat. You can catch a bus to visit Bridgetown where there are more things and places to visit and eat but it's a long journey and could take hours to come back. The main town nearest is Spreightown which has couple of lovely beaches and places to eat out. Very grateful for the receptionist Justin who saw how upset I was and offered to transfer me to the sister Hotel, Savannah Beach Club Garrison based in Christchurch which was so much better for me. I am so grateful to Justin for offering and therefore making my rest of the 7 days experience in Barbados wonderful. Please don’t get me wrong, Sugar Cane is a lovely hotel, the room I originally stayed in which was classed as a Garden View with a lounge and kitchen with a balcony, was lovely, but I should not have placed me in a room where there was major construction work. I also wanted to state that when I had breakfast on the day before I due to move to Savannah, I was ignored several times when asking for water, to the point where I had to get the water myself. some of the waiting staff were quite rude. I didn't complain at the time as I knew I was leaving the next day ,so I didn’t want to cause any fuss. I personally would not come back to Sugar Cane not because of the hotel itself, it’s just not the type of hotel as a 1st time solo traveller should go to, The remoteness is too much and it would be better to stay in ChristChurch in St Michael where there are more places to visit , more wonderful beaches and more places to eat. I just really appreciate the above and beyond actions of Justin who was so helpful and also checked up on me after I arrived at the Savannah. I'm eternally grateful to him as he made my 1st visit memorable.

  Great Staycation

  The location is good, the atmosphere was peaceful, room was very clean and comfortable. The service I received was good and I believe it was worth it. The meal options were very good and I totally enjoyed my daily breakfast. The rum punch was a perfect blend and tasted awesome.

  A memorable stay with exceptional staff and great value!

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Every member of staff was exceptionally friendly, welcoming and helpful, and nothing ever seemed too much trouble. The hotel also provided a great shuttle service, which made getting around incredibly easy. The hotel itself was excellent value for money, we had a stay with breakfast in a quite period, so ordered from a menu, had something for everyone and you can tailor your meal which was great. It was lovely, well-maintained and felt authentic. Our room was right in the wilderness, surrounded by lush greenery and felt like a little slice of the Caribbean jungle (not for everyone, but a lovely experience, and there are other rooms nearer the pool or removed if that's not your thing). Although we didn't get the chance to visit the hotel beach, we made great use of the pool facilities and had a fantastic experience throughout. The waiters took the time to learn and remember our orders, which made the service feel genuinely personal and attentive. The location initially felt a little far out, very quiet and quaint, but Fish Pot restaurant (we had a wedding there - lovely) and other restaurants are just off the main road and once you get your bearings its fine, and easy access via the shuttle. Sand Street Bistro was also excellent, with wonderful food and service. Overall, this was a truly memorable stay and we would absolutely love to return in the future.
