Nice weather. Bad food and service.

The scenery was pretty and weather was great. Housekeeping was a little bit of a challenge because of the language barrier. It was a bit of a struggle to get coffee and water with our meals. The biggest downside was the food. For 10 days we ate mostly toast, broccoli, rice, french fries, and bananas. The bacon was either raw or burnt. We didn’t like many of the sausages. The steaks or beef dishes were tough and grizzly-one was like shoe leather. The chicken was usually ok, when you could find it. One day there was green jello with corn in it! Mashed beets. Mashed plantains. Mashed root veggies. The scrambled eggs were runny. The hard boiled eggs were warm and poached eggs were cold. They just couldn’t get it together. They were short staffed and needed about 100 more beach chairs, too. We’d get up at 6 am to put towels on chairs for the day so we’d have somewhere to sit. I wouldn’t recommend this resort to anyone wanting a quiet and elegant time. It’s nestled next to a loud neighborhood with barking dogs and honking horns. Not fun. I heard some people took 1 hours to check in. The lobby bar was way too small and they wouldn’t serve you at the bar. You had to stand in line for a drink. On the plus side, the entertainment staff was great, as well as the Amstar excursion staff.

    Great Family Vacation

Just returned from week stay with family (group of 12). We had a great time and had no issues with the resort or staff. Once we arrived to check in we were upgraded to Sun club free of charge. Our room was large and clean and had nice pool views. Jonicia kept the room clean daily with new fresh towels. We had no issues with anything malfunctioning (building 2). The Sun Club consierge was excellent. I had requested a case of bottled water for my stay as I need to take a medical drink daily and they were very accommodating, ended up getting multiple cases topped up through the week (good tip for fellow PKU-ers). The food was pretty good, not the best I’ve ever had travelling but still a ton of variety and lots of options for vegetarians. We mainly ate at the buffets, the food is very similar at both but it’s quieter at the Kaleidoscope. The beach is beautiful. Vibrant blue water. The sand is soft and fine white. Yes, you will see a small amount of seaweed along the shore and where the waves crash but you can easily swim out past it and water is clean. I will say, the resort does clean the beach daily in the early hours, so the piles of seaweed with garbage posted in other reviews are not an accurate representation, that is the beach out front of the neighbouring resorts. The water was warm and got deep fairly quickly so that was nice for a good swim. The beach is always fairly windy so do expect manageable waves. It’s not a calm smooth Caribbean Sea. The entertainment staff were fantastic. They were often out around the main pool getting people up to dance, doing water exercises and dancing, leading games, water spin classes, synchro performances. At night they have a variety of themed shows. They also lead games of soccer, volleyball, Zumba, and Boca ball on the beach through out the day. Maeva was very friending and came and spent time socializing with our group and teaching us some Spanish. I will say. I have read a lot of reviews about the staff being dismissive and not at all friendly and I rarely found this to be a major issue. Yes of course there may be some servers in the buffet that are not as engaging but a lot of them were very friendly. I am sure they deal with a lot of entitled travellers, you are not at a Sandals, so consider giving them a break. Ariela one of the hostesses we met was fantastic, so welcoming and friendly. I would recommend the resort of families over couples. Although they have the sun club, loud music is still played daily in that area so not a quiet vibe, just no kids. Just a couple of quick tips that might help you if you’ve booked: - best drinks are made at the lobby bar for late night - Enjoy the water slide pool even if you’re an adult, was a lot of fun - Snacks (guac, chips, sliders, etc) at bar behind building 2 in Sun Club - Bring your pickle ball rackets and play early morning games on the roof top court - If offered an upgrade to Sun club at check in, push for them to do it for free, they might agree - Get up and at the pool by 630 to claim chairs, couple of people were seen sleeping in chairs by that time to save them, It’s serious business. - If you like hot sauce pack and bring along, there is none at the buffets. - We didn’t have any issues with bugs or bites in Feb.

Experience was fun. Great family time. Amazing views and hotel architecture

Felix the bell man was great. He did a great job servicing us and making sure we were taken care of. The hotel was fun and accommodating. Felix graciously retrieved our bags and had a positive attitude. My family greatly appreciated Felix’s hospitality during our week long stay

Great staff!! Renny (concierge) and Felix (bellman)

Felix the bellman was awesome. He went above and beyond to help us. Very helpful. Renny the concierge was excellent. Extremely helpful. He really took care of us. Luis the bellman was also great. The hotel is good, a lil outdated. But the these guys made up for what the hotel was lacking!! I can't say enough about them. Renny (concierge), Felix (bellman) and Luis (bellman) were truly the best thing about our stay and experience. Especially where a language barrier exists, they were people we could count on time and time again. Big shout out to them.

Wear your rain jacket to bed, otherwise good!

My friend and I went for 5 days and had a lot of fun! Entertainment was great by the pool side and shows were good at night. Beach is beautiful!! Rooms needed updating (don’t get a room on the top floor, ceiling was leaking when it rained), check in takes forever, but otherwise would recommend this resort!
