  Good experience - only minor issues

  I enjoyed my stay here (although I did book one of the largest rooms, so I can't comment on standard size rooms), and I would consider staying at this hotel again but there are some considerations I think others should be aware of: 1) This could be a big deal for some people, but there is no bidet/bumgun in the bathroom. It's quite common in Colombia so this was a bit surprising. 2) The main entrance door to the hotel is closed after a certain hour which is not a big deal but you do need to knock to have someone open the front door. The security guard is almost always close by. 3) The buffet breakfast costs about $20 USD which is a bit high. 4) The pool on the roof is nice and there is a bar, but English is not well spoken by many of the staff. Given the price of the hotel and the rating, I would have expected more English to be spoken. 5) There are about 6-8 day beds and it's not easy to secure one. If you want a day bed, you should probably arrive early. Otherwise, most of the other seating are just regular chairs, I don't recall seeing any loungers. 6) The internet was generally reliable. There was one short outage once in about 6 days, but that was resolved within 5-10 minutes.

  Perfect!!! Highly recommend!

  We loved this hotel. Our room was large and the shower pressure amazing. The lobby and rooftop bar were beautiful. The gym was very nice too. We ate at the rooftop several times and the food was fabulous. The location is at the end of a main road that takes you to the clock tower. It’s a quieter end of the street in between 2 plazas with restaurants around them. We did a walking tour through the hotel that was pricey, but worth it to get the lay of the land. Otherwise, the streets of the old city can be very intimidating!

  Fantastic hotel close to all the action

  Excellent hotel with fantastic amenities and friendly staff. Pool area and bar in the roof is a great area to relax and enjoy the sunset. Hotel is in a very safe district and close to lots of great restaurants and rooftop bars. Great value and highly recommended.

  Stunning hotel, excellent stay

  This hotel completely surpassed my expectations. Situated down a small quiet street is Nacar. I had booked the penthouse suite so was in a separate building from the main building where most of the rooms are and where the main pool and bar are. The room was beautiful, cleaned to an impeccable standard and having my own private pool on my rooftop was a particularly nice benefit. The staff here are wonderful and knew me by name as soon as I arrived. A particular thanks to Gustavo who was great. He saw me in the street one evening away from the hotel and stopped to speak to ask me about my day and give me some recommendations for dinner. Top class service. The breakfast spread is extensive and top quality. The main bar by the pool is a nice space to spend a few hours at sunset enjoying the cocktails. One small bit of feedback - the music in the lobby area was switched on pretty early every morning (around 7.15am). I’d say it was louder than it needed to be and could be lowered, especially at that time of morning. Apart from that, I could not fault this stay and if I’m back in Cartagena, this will be my go to hotel! Gracias!

  Incredible Hotel, Incredible Staff, Incredible Stay

  Absolutely amazing place to stay. Nacar was our home away from home, and the staff was incredibly caring and attentive. Nellys, Gustavo, Freddy and Alison really shone during our stay. We had to do no additional thinking or planning, they took care of our every need. We cannot wait to come back!! The location is close to everything in the walled city, and the atmosphere in the hotel itself is nice and quiet. Rooms were clean, large and beautiful! The amenities are well kept and allow for a relaxing environment. Look no further, stay here!!
