    Relaxing Stay

This was our second visit. Stayed in building 7 again. The pool is lovely. Pool bar service is great. There were a couple of days that the music at the large pool was so loud, we could hear it while sitting around our pool. We found the volume of loudness was overwhelming during the evening entertainment beginning at 9pm, so we chose to not attend. The food and restaurants were amazing. Service again was great. The beach was perfect. We do a lot of walking and we noticed once again this year that the stamped concrete walkways are extremely dirty between buildings. We saw the roads being power washed but the walkways were untouched. Our room seemed to be clean enough and fridge well stocked each day. Because of the many birds around, of course there were droppings on our balcony and chairs. These were never cleaned up our entire stay. Despite these few negative things, we loved our stay.

Another good stay with some flaws though

The Valentin is our favorite resort and this was our 13th stay. As usual the service and friendliness of the staff was great. The beach here is always great. This time was the first time we've ever seen green flags on the beach. We've been there in December and February and it's always been mostly red flags. The food, while good on all of our stays has fluctuated over the years. We felt that it wasn't as good this trip as it was last year. Breakfast and lunch are always consistent. At Le marche, Noemi and her crew always do a great job. We had great service from Miguel several times. Bar service was very good, and Sonia was outstanding. Concerns: These are the reasons why I gave 4 stars instead of 5: 1- The deluxe rooms could use some updating and new furniture. 2- The resort closed the beach bar for a wedding's cocktail party. One of our favorite things to do in the later part of the afternoon is to finish our day with a couple of drinks at the beach bar and we were not allowed to do this. They also closed the outside area of the Mexican restaurant one night and one of the pools for private parties. We as guests pay a lot of money to stay and enjoy the resort and we should not be barred from areas that are normally open to everyone.

Another good stay but not perfect....

Full disclosure. If I rate a resort a 5. There can’t be any negatives. A 4.5 would be more appropriate for this stay. Hopefully this review has something for everyone, new guests and repeat guests. A little background. We have been to this resort many times. We do have another stay booked in Feb. of 2026 but Valentin is starting to price themselves out of our budget. They have new buildings that look nice but I wish they would have added more deluxe rooms. Deluxe always fills up faster than the high end rooms. They have added 36 new higher level rooms but I don’t see any addition to more palapas or pool seats for these potentially 72 more guests. At one time several years ago they were thinking of doubling the size of the resort. I sure hope not. We have stayed in various room categories but now we go deluxe. We just aren’t in the rooms long enough to justify the expense. Prive’ package is always debated by people. We just have not found the extra expense worth it. Some love it for the bali bed and making restaurant reservations. A quick restaurant summary. I would say the La Hacienda is my favorite because of the more extensive menu. The French used to be my favorite but since the remodelling 2 years ago. The French is not even close to my favorite now. They have dropped so many of my favorites like Chilean Sea Bass, Baked Alaska, and they changed the french onion soup recipe. The soup was a fav of mine but not now. Our favorite breakfast and lunch restaurant is the Mar y Tierra, not even close. You order your food so it is fresh, not buffet food. Food is served quickly. Samuel, the manager, has his team working very well together. It is no surprise the Mar y Tierra breakfast and lunch was named the best restaurant 3 years in a row. The only thing I would like to caution people, if you are an early riser. The stairwells are very dark and easy to miss a step. Take a small flashlight or use your phone light. Another negative is the turndown was pretty much non-existent. In our 7 nights we had turndown only the last night. Guessing that was because they had our bill. We wouldn’t mind not getting turndown but that is how your beach towels are replaced. You can get towels at the east dive shop building but they run out fast and they may ask for your old towels and concierges don’t show up until 9 am.
