An excellent resort experience
We vacated for 2 glorious weeks at this beautiful resort. The landscaping, staff, suites, amenities (and 82 degree sunny days) are excellent. We especially appreciated breakfast buffets at Capriccio, the deli at the market, the Bite Bar, aqua jumba, live music by the pool and in the lobby, the hammock on the balcony. Kudos to. Concierge: Adriana, Veronica, Front desk: Luis, Bellman: Elitel, Atilano, Bits Bar: Noe, Edgar, Housekeeping: Giovanna, Blanca and the Deli staff: Maria, Alexandra, Antonio, Jose, Abian.

Salud
Our group had an excellent time at Villa del Palmar Cancún one of the main reasons for this is Adrian the master mixologist at the legends bar. He always has a smile on his face and knows how to make the best and magical shots. The second reason we had a spectacular trip was Enrique Tabasco down by the beach. He was always on it even recognized our group and had six drinks ready to go. !Salud!

Long weekend at Villa Del Palmar Cancun
My husband and I are members of the Villa Group. This was our first time visiting Villa Del Palmar in Cancun. Overall, we had a very nice time. The resort itself is extremely clean and well maintained. Our room had beautiful views. It was cleaned very well every day. Our bed was very comfortable and we loved the hammock on our balcony. We spent time at the gym every day. It was also very clean and seemed to have enough equipment for the guests. We ate at several of the restaurants at both Villa Del Palmar and Garza Blanca, the resort next door. The service at most of the restaurants was good. The food was just fair. I would not recommend Davino, the Italian restaurant. The food was not good, it was very loud, and the service was just ok. We did enjoy the buffet breakfast each morning. It was definitely more crowded than we expected, so there was a wait most days. One highlight of the trip was our time by the pool. Jared and Raul were great. Honestly, these two men made our trip. They were super accommodating, friendly, and hustled to make guests happy. They went out of their way to make us comfortable and to make our time there enjoyable. We very much appreciated their excellent service. If we return, we will be looking for them!

One simple fix could have made this resort live up to it's 4 diamond status
About a week before our scheduled visit, someone from this hotel called us and asked if we wanted to pre-book transportation to and from the Cancun airport. We did book transportation through the hotel, so they used their third-party transportation company to make all the arrangements. We gave them the check-in, check-out dates arriving on January 30 and departing on February 12 and pre-paid for the transportation. They reserved our transportation times based on our flight information we provided them. Our arrival location was miscommunicated to us by the hotel so we waited for 45 minutes at the wrong location. After several phone calls, it was resolved. We are members of the Villa del Palmar so our check-in process was smooth and our representative, Eunice was wonderful. She gave us a lot of helpful information. We did not choose to pay for the all-inclusive option so we could feel free to eat outside of the resort. One thing to keep in mind is that if you don't make reservations for dinner in advance, there is not a buffet option so the only place to eat at is the Legends bar if you can get in, or room service. We also had to pay for our drinks, but you have the option to charge them to your room. WATCH YOUR TICKETS! Even if you are all inclusive, you have to sign a ticket. They already include a gratuity, but they do have an option for you to add extra. Tip the bartenders in cash and they will take care of you! Obet, Adrian (a true tequila master), Miguel and Yair were awesome! These guys work six days a week and bust a$$ to please their patrons! When we booked our reservation, we just wanted a studio, but there wasn't one for the entire two weeks, so we had a studio from January 30-Feb 8, then on Feb 8, we moved to a one bedroom for the remainder of our stay. The studio had a small fridge that was stocked with items we had to pay for, so we had to ask the hotel to remove the items so we could use it. We were disappointed that there was no microwave. No way for us to heat up food since we were not all inclusive. That was disappointing. On Feb 8, we moved to a one-bedroom and it was huge! It had two bathrooms, a full kitchen and a washer and dryer. The housekeeping staff was amazing. We went to Walmart and got food so we could finally eat meals in our room. NOW FOR THE DISAPPOINTING PART THAT CHANGED OUR OPINION OF THIS HOTEL! On Feb 12, our check-out date, we went to the concierge in the morning to make sure our transportation to the airport was confirmed. They pulled it up and we were not on the transportation schedule for Feb 12. They had us for Feb 8, the day we changed rooms! Someone miscommunicated the date and used the date we checked out of one room and into another despite the dates we gave them. Even though we prepaid for the trip to the airport, we had no reservation to get to the airport and they said we had to pay them again and we might be able to get on the 2:30 bus that was an hour and a half later than we needed. They said the error was on us because they sent us a confirmation email. We told them we assumed they got the information we provided them correct in the first place. They refused to honor pre-payment and said it was our error and we had to find our own way to the airport. We asked for a supervisor and were presented with a young man named Daniel. HE WAS THE RUDEST PERSON we encountered at this hotel. He was not interested in making the hotel's error right for us and maintaining the integrity of their 4-diamond status was of no concern to him. He wouldn't even look us in the eyes when telling us it was our mistake, nor would he acknowledge that the hotel made the error in the first place. It was like we were trying to return a used item at Walmart or something. We spent thousands of dollars to be members at the Villa del Palmar resorts, and thousands of dollars on this trip. We were just asking them to make this one thing right by paying for a taxi or shuttle to the airport since we already paid the transportation fee. They did not and we called an Uber. We left this hotel angry instead of happy. LESSON LEARNED--don't pay for the pre-arranged transportation. It was a mix-up from the beginning of our trip. Uber is much cheaper to get around, and get to and from the airport. They could have easily made this a five star stay for us!

Happy vacationers at Villa Del Palmar
The resort is beautiful as always, the service is great. I want to mention a few staff that went above and beyond to make our stay great. Jose at the big pool area by waterfall, he is great, very helpful, he is good with our food and drinks. Then we moved to the elite pool , Eric he is funny and very good always making sure we have our drinks. Then Jared and Alejandro I think that is his name, he had a birthday today, these two makes sure we have our cabana ready every morning. Every staff at the restaurant is very helpful, we like coming here, we just purchase the elite membership so we will be coming back for longer stays than just 8 days.
