  Great family resort.

  Went here June 12 to June 19, 2026, party of 12 adults and my 2 grandkids. Stayed at Villa del Palmar Cancun. This resort is usually our favorite place for the best food (have been to all the Villa del Palmar resorts) but some in our party had intermittent diarrheal illness, not sure if it was related to the Cyclospora outbreak. The sargassum (seaweed) was bad this time, worse than I’ve ever seen. It accumulated on the beach every day and they had a hard time keeping up with its removal. Shout out to Nubia (our elite concierge) who was very attentive to scheduling our dinner reservations and activities. Pool attendants Jared and Benjamin were awesome every day. Jared always made sure we were taken care of, was always smiling and friendly. Benjamin even remembered by grandson’s name and said hello to him daily. Jorge was very attentive to our needs and very accommodating every day. Enrique as the activities attendant was good and tried to get everyone involved. Helpful Hints: Beef tenderloin was excellent at Blanca Blu. The soft shell crabs were a favorite at Zuma, but they can run out daily (have to get it before anyone else!). Popcorn shrimp at Hiroshi is a must to try. Calamari and mushroom ravioli were just OK at Davinos. If you see limoncello dessert, get it!! We took the ferry to Isla Mujeres (cost about $30 USD/person round trip). Previously rented a 6 person golf cart ($150 USD for 8 hours) from Rentadora Joaquin (one of the first rental places you see as you walk to town from the ferry). Don’t rent from the sale person as you get off the ferry - they are more expensive. Loreto is usually our favorite (have been there 13-14 times), but Cancun is becoming more of a favorite when we bring kids.

  Most bizarre and uncomfortable all-inclusive experience EVER

  We were a group of 36 people that were invited by an elite member to celebrate a milestone. We came during low season and there were not many guests. There were so many things that were not up-to-par that she was always at the Concierge for Elite members for the whole duration of our stay. On a personal experience, this resort gave me the feeling of obligation. It has distorted the principle of "all-inclusive". - Upon registration, we were obliged to pay daily tips to the cleaning staff to be paid at check-out. - We needed to close our tabs every time we order anything. The amount of each items are so jacked up, it forces you to leave tips by percentage. - One instance, one waiter actually shouted "TIP". - I needed to look for some service for drinks as waiters were all huddled up in the shade. At times, I end up getting the drink myself — still being obligated to leave a percentage for tips. Though it was not all a bad experience, it was still too significant to ruin the whole event. Luckily, it wasn't our choice to come to this resort. NEVER IN THE FUTURE

  Nice place. Don't know if I'd go back. Too many kids running uncontrolled.

  Located north of Cancun about 20 minutes. Not much in the area. You have to travel away from the hotel to see anything. I thought the service was good. Food was good. Expensive for AI. Too many kids out of control running. Crazy around the grounds. Parents leaving kids on their own while they're in the bars drinking.

  Staff need retraining. Isolated. Staff asking for tips, tips, tips in a resort.

  Pros- • Communal areas were presented well • The room was extremely comfortable and clean-we had a garden view room • Easy to get down to the pool area, restaurants and main reception • By the beach • Lots of loungers and the bars were conveniently located • The pools were clean and lots of towels • There is a shop outside of the hotel where they sell items for a reasonable price unlike the resort and there is a Starbucks there too Cons- • You are trapped in this resort as there is nothing of note in the area • There are 6 restaurants, but the food is not the standard you would expect from such a resort and very basic (burgers and fries), overpriced foods. We are glad we didn’t go for the all- inclusive package as it would have been waste of money for a couple. • The beach didn’t have nice views and felt as if it was artificially made-the sand was gritty not soft! • It cost 900 pesos to the airport (a fixed price) • On our final evening, we went for a meal in one of the restaurants. They said they would be closed the kitchen soon but if we ordered now, it wouldn’t be a problem. The waiter was overbearingly attentive. My husband ordered a soup and before he had finished our mains were on the table and his bowl was being whipped away upon on last mouthful. Then whilst we were eating our mains, the waiter asked if we would like dessert. We said yes and he brought over the menu and asked us to choose. At this point we were getting irritated by his interruptions, but we chose a dessert. The dessert arrived within minutes of us finishing our mains (as did all the food-far too quickly for it be fresh) but as we were eating our 2 pathetic churros, the waiter once again came over with the card machine asking us how we want to pay and tip! At this point we were outraged and asked to see the manager for the restaurant and the manager for the hotel. We were appalled by how we were being rushed and treated in this resort. Considering what you are paying, this is completely unacceptable. We were being treated like an ATM! • Upon arrival your card is charged $450 dollars for any incidentals, this is an obscene amount. • This resort became very boring, very quickly. You constantly feel they are trying to sell things to you. For instance, upon check-in the receptionists tried to sell us ‘discounted massages’ but only if we purchased them there and then (they were still hundreds of US dollars).
