Vacation Freeport January 2026
The hotel was a little outdated but it was very clean. Our room was very well cleaned by Alitha who was wonderful,we saw a big difference when she wasn’t there. Thank you Alitha 😊 The buffet was very repetitious always same food. All the staff of the hotel were very nice and friendly. They didn’t have many activities or excursions to do. The night shows were amazing. Carlos was really entertaining and livened up the atmosphere of the party. All the members of the show were great 😊

Beach and yoga !
What makes this place worth it is the beach and the staff, especialy the people in charge of the activities around the pool. Special thanks to Barbara, outstanding yoga and zumba coach. She really transmits her energy to others. We didn't miss any lesson ! A real pleasure ! Roberto and Cristina were also great and very enthusiastic. Fantastic team ! We hope to see them again !

Amazing time!!!
We had an amazing time at Viva Fortuna. The reviews were mixed so I was nervous, but our group of 6 (4 adults two kids 5, &2) had an incredible time. The rooms were basic but clean. The food was great. The beach was incredible and the entertainment was the best out of any hotel I have stayed at. The yoga and Zumba class run by Barbara (Basia) was amazing. The trapeze team were incredible and my 5 year old learned awesome tricks. Rita and the entertainment staff were awesome, and Rita was awesome singing at night! Everyone learned my daughters name which was so nice and made her feel special. Cannot complain and we are planning to come back next year

This resort has potential but we wouldn’t return
Overall: We tried to make the best of our stay, and while there were some genuinely fun moments, we left feeling slightly disappointed. The beach and activities were the highlight, but service inconsistencies, room issues, and the membership experience really took away from the vacation. We can see why this is considered a 3-star resort. ⸻ ✅ Pros • The beach and ocean are beautiful (water shoes recommended) • The activities team was great — archery, trapeze, basketball, and shows were fun • The Elements show and dancing afterward were a highlight • Some waiters and activity staff were friendly and engaging • Drinks were decent and food ranged from good to okay, depending on the day • We enjoyed having cats visit our patio, very cute touch ⸻ ❌ Cons • Check-in experience felt rushed and unorganized • The membership presentation took 3 hours, cutting into beach time • VIP room upgrade was actually a downgrade: • weak toilet flush • inconsistent hot/cold water • broken bathroom fan • less furniture and storage than our original room • Luggage transfer never happened — bellmen went home and we waited two hours and had to move bags ourselves • Mini fridge was never restocked, despite multiple calls (especially frustrating when hungover and needing water) • Front desk and some staff seemed unmotivated or unhappy • The Jacuzzi is not hot — same temperature as the pool • Sports bar games were broken (unleveled pool table, air hockey not working) • Big food gaps (lunch ends at 3:30, dinner starts at 6:30, buffet closes at 10) • No food allowed to rooms, which is inconvenient late at night • Junkanoo festival info was misleading — gated area required extra paid entry ⸻ ⚠️ Membership Warning The membership presentation sounded too good to be true, and it was. The financing would have cost much more with interest, and the benefits required jumping through hoops. We canceled within the allowed period but lost a significant non-refundable fee, which made the trip far more expensive than expected. If we had skipped the membership meeting entirely, we believe we would’ve enjoyed the vacation much more. ⸻ Final thoughts There were fun moments and we truly tried to enjoy ourselves, but between the room downgrade, service issues, food limitations, and the membership experience, we wouldn’t return. This resort has potential, but expectations should be kept realistic.

Great option for ocean and vibe.
Booked Viva Fortuna for an 8 day trip, bringing my 80 yo parents and 2 14-15 teenagers... and my better half! Pros: Buffet offerings always good, always 2 or 3 fish or seafood options, 2-3 meats, salade option all day, breads sweets... -Beaches fantastic, snorkel towards the left side pf protected zone and to the red buey for amazinf coral reef and variety of tropical fishes. -High season and still enough chairs for everybody. Pool clean amd decent but pretty much skipped on it since sea was so awesome. -Coffee at bar barosta good, many options for drinks, although not a lot of premium picks for spirits. -Oceanview room really good for sight towards infinity of sea and Nice palm trees in the frame! -almost no bugs, ants or other bug except wasp around trashes because too many guests leave drinks and food anywhere, but not a problem elsewhere. -cleanliness of site is great, room also well taken care of. -special thanks to ALITHA that has been a true gem for our whole vacation, always making sure we were not missing anything and kept our room spotless. Her smile every morning was a true bringer of joy to all our family. Cons: -rooms could be upgraded -shower température with massive swings -fresh vegetables lacking a bit -buffet upgrades to consider: ice cream bar always empty after first 20 min of buffet opening, wine on tap not great, maybe otger options or even bottles on sale could be good, pizza overnight really not the idéal snack but it seemed very quiet on property at night during my week. -rooms not very spacious, pillows not great. Overall: Awesome spot, not that many visit options on this island, Gold Rock beach, Lucayan market place probably sone of your best spots... but the beach, the vibe, food way better than Cuba, not at all at Riviera Maya level yet... hotel relatively quiet, not a party spot so if you want to relax, do yoga in amazing whote sands with turquoise water or just take a swim with the fishes, this is a great option. Paid around 1500$ CAN per person for 1 week all included flying from YUL.
