Brilliantly beautiful and lovely stay!
I have always wanted to stay at one of the Halekulani properties and I was pleasantly surprised to find a good weekend deal at the Halepuna in early December. From check-in to check-out everyone I encountered was so lovely and made me feel at home, very much showing the spirit of aloha with timeless and modern elegance. The rooms are very clean and come with all the amenities (or you can ask for things needed as they list this as part of their sustainability clause), with a beautiful 8th floor garden deck, fitness room and pool if you don't decide to go to the beach. I even took advantage of the ice cream that they had in the afternoon on Friday when I checked in and the 10% discount at their amazing bakery on Sunday (show your room key). Would definitely come back as it's quite central and walkable to all the great Waikiki sites.

Beautiful Property Excellent Customer Service
Very clean & most importantly the staff members were very friendly and helpful. The 8th floor offers great amenities including an infinity pool & a state of the art gym/workout room.

My parents always love this hotel as their annual vacation
Rooms are always neatly arranged and cleaned. The location is also perfect, very close to favorite places in HNL Waikīkī.

Extremely Unprofessional, Unfriendly, and Unequal Treatment — Worst Hotel Experience I’ve Had in the U.S.
My stay at Halepuna Waikiki by Halekulani was shockingly disappointing from start to finish. The service across the hotel—front desk, Orchid at Halekulani, and UMI by Vikram Garg —was unfriendly, unhelpful, and in several instances felt blatantly different depending on who the guest was. I have never experienced this level of unprofessionalism at any hotel in the U.S. 1. Front Desk: Dismissive and Rude I had a Thanksgiving dinner reservation for 4:15 PM, yet online info said the restaurant opened at 5 PM. When I asked the front desk to confirm, the front desk lady refused to check, refused to call, and told me to “walk over there myself” in 85°F heat. Only after I escalated to a manager did the same staff member suddenly confirm the time within seconds. This was not inability — it was unwillingness. 2. Thanksgiving Buffet: Different Treatment Based on Who You Are The $200-per-person (after fee and tax) Thanksgiving buffet at Orchid was a huge disappointment. Staff serving seafood consistently gave me the smallest and worst-looking pieces from the tray, while I watched Japanese guests and white guests who appeared affluent receive noticeably better portions and friendlier service. This pattern repeated itself enough times to be impossible to ignore. It felt discriminatory, and it was extremely uncomfortable. 3. Restaurant Staff at UMI: Shockingly Poor Attitude The service at UMI by Vikram Garg—especially from a female supervisor—was among the least polite restaurant service I’ve ever received in any hotel, luxury or otherwise. 4. Housekeeping: Hours Late and Not Thorough My room was not cleaned until around 4PM, essentials were not restocked (my conditioner was empty on day one), and simple requests like towels took over an hour. 5. Room & Bed Size Misleading Rooms are small, and the double beds are noticeably smaller than standard—somewhere between full and queen. Completely impractical for families. Overall: I’m genuinely shocked this hotel has such high ratings. This was the worst hotel stay I’ve had in the United States, and the first time I’ve felt so clearly singled out and treated differently as a guest, the tune here is political. Extremely disappointing and absolutely not worth the price or the Halekulani name.
