  1 Star Experience Ruined our Anniversary trip.NO AC IN WHOLE RESORT Let me start by saying that we are Marriott Titanium, we travel A LOT. We have been to the Marriott Wailea location 7 previous times prior to Covid and LOVED it! We decided to come back this year for our 18th wedding anniversary and right away we were shocked at the degradation of the hotel since we had last been there. The Lobby is still beautiful, however the rest of hotel is in total disrepair. The rooms are filthy, smelly, falling apart and generally just run down. This is not what we were expecting for 1K a night!! Its clear the present owners have done little to maintain this property over the years, peeling paint, chipping stucco, dirty rooms etc. As if this weren’t bad enough in the middle of our one week stay the AC went out for the WHOLE resort and was NOT repaired before we left. We were never notified of the situation, nor were we offered anything. Again, not what one expects for 1K a night. This will be our LAST trip to this resort…

  Be ready for an early bedtime!

  First impression are great and the ocean view room was lovely (although bathroom looking a little dated) but clean and spacious. The adult pool was a nice place to be although disappointed the lounger cushions are thin, tired and worn. I would expect thick foam cushions at a hotel of this standing. The service was good around the pool and these guys work really hard. Kudos. We ate at the Humble Kitchen that was OK but more of an in and out meal with little atmosphere and expensive. Pool restaurant (name escapes me) but was the best out of the two as the staff are super attentive and make you feel welcome. What I find odd is everything shuts around 8pm and there really is no central bar or point to have a late evening drink with atmosphere. The lobby bar is open until 22.00 but not atmosphere and is a pop up bar. This really is a resort for day time and bed by 21.00. Luckily the TV has Netflix! Bottomline is it is a nice relaxing resort during the day with nothing to do past 20.00. I wouldn’t travel from the UK again to stay here. To be fair, the whole of Maui since Covid closes at 22.00 so just take that into your thinking when booking.

  Valuable stolen from my room

  Although we enjoyed our stay for a family reunion in early August, my wedding ring was stolen from my room. We left our valuables at the safe, but since I was wearing my ring off and on throughout the trip, I left it in a drawer under my clothes whenever I took it off to go to the pool or beach. I spoke with TJ at security and they couldn’t find it, but was told I would hear back from the claims staff at the hotel. This has not happened. I would not be surprised that valuables get stolen from this hotel all the time! It’s unacceptable that the hotel has not contacted me yet!

  Modern and Enjoyable

  Lovely stay in Wailea. This resort is a bit of a catch-all, catering to both families and couples alike. We saw a healthy mix of both during our stay. The primary infinity pool is stunning, and service at the pool is quick and consistent. The resort does a good job of keeping children under 18 to two other pools on site, so I never felt like were were staying at a huge "family" resort. The rooms are modern and updated. Hallways felt like they could use a little TLC. My one complaint, and I am not sure how much the hotel can really do about this, but the lobby bar is only open until 10pm. This is by far the earliest I have ever seen at a hotel, and was frustrating some nights when we wanted a nightcap after dinner. Our reservation included the breakfast buffet, and by the 4th day I was tired of the offerings. The selection is somewhat limited, and if you are staying more than a few days you will begin to see repeats. Convenient access to the shops at Wailea, an easy 5-10 minute walk. Also walkable to restaurants/coffee shops across the street. My one gripe is that we were here during Hurricane Lala and had to stay 3 extra nights due to our flight being cancelled. The hotel didn't care to offer any type of discount or deal seeing that so many guests were in the same situation, completely out of our control. This seems a bit callous to me, but I try not to let it color my entire stay. Overall, good things to say about this property.

  Beautiful Resort, but Disruptive Morning Staff Noise

  Wailea Beach Resort is a beautiful property in a fantastic location. The grounds are impressive, the views are wonderful, and the resort offers excellent amenities. Overall, we enjoyed many aspects of our stay. Unfortunately, we experienced a recurring noise issue while staying in Room 5411. At approximately 8:30 every morning, employees spoke very loudly and yelled to one another across the hallways near the guest rooms. This happened daily and made it difficult to sleep in or enjoy a peaceful morning. We understand that employees need to communicate while working, but shouting near guest rooms early in the morning is poor hospitality etiquette—especially at a resort of this caliber. Management should remind staff to keep their voices down and communicate professionally in guest areas. This is a great property with a lot to offer, but the morning noise negatively affected our overall experience.
